But there was a point to having both the slingshot and the bow. What would be the point of throwing in a crossbow?

In TP, there hardly was (for the Slingshot). After you got the Hero's Bow, it became about as useful as a candy wrapper.

I think they should replace the bow with a crossbow 'cause it's faster.

I don't think they should replace the bow, because its a item thats been in almost EVERY SINGLE GAME so far. It would kinda suck to lose it. But I still think it would be cool if they put the crossbow in somehow, and theres endless ways they could do it. Like maybe they could put it in a mini game, or it could be a secret (like the mirror shield in MC) that doesnt really have to be there but they put it in anyway, because they know we would like it. Or maybe even something else, but it's just an idea anyway...  8)

Perhaps they should implement a time system like they did in OoT so you could have the bow in the past and the crossbow in the future (since there's better technology in the future).

ZeldaFreak

Like I said theres endless possibilities. :)
Did anyone even read my second idea?  ::)

Every Zelda game is different, right? And every zelda game has something about it that sets it apart from the rest, right? So what I am thinking is, whatever they do to to the new zelda game will make it different from the rest. There's no avoiding that. But they can't mess it up, because in doing that, they can only make it different, which is really only making better. And it will still be a Zelda game. So whatever zelda game nintendo comes out with, I support them.  ;D
It took me like forever to write it and nobody said nothin about it... :(

Actually, there is no bow in the Oracle games.

Different does not always equal better.  That's often a matter of opinion anyways.  Zelda II was drastically different, but I don't like it very much.

And also Zelda II is a perfect example of my point. It is different but that didnt ruin zelda for everybody, so yeah. :)

I say lose the slingshot, it doesn't do much damage anyway, and replace that with the crossbow. And maybe, if Ganondorf's gonna be in it, he could actually go FFVI Kefka on the world, not just leave it in ruins like in Oot. I mean, actual devastation and reshaping of the face of the earth. That would be something to see, and actually give me faith in his abilities again.

Yeah I dont like the slingshot, its accuracy sucked. Also, if they put in a bow and a cross bow, one wouldnt have to replace the other, like how the bow made the slingshot useless. For example, the bow could have better accuracy, but the cross bow would be faster. So the one you use more often would depend on your fighting style I guess. And they both take arrows, so you wouldn't have to find different kinds of ammo. :)

Okay, I just noticed something.  What do you mean by a crossbow is faster?  Are you saying the arrows move faster?  Or are you saying it's faster to reload a crossbow than a regular bow?  I'm not completely certain, but I think it's faster and easier to reload a regular bow than a crossbow.

As for the bow being more accurate than the crossbow.  When you use a bow, you have to hold the string back to build up tension, which would case your arm to shake, leading to less accuracy over a crossbow.  A crossbow is designed to hold the tension for you, so your arms won't shake, leading to more accuracy over a regular bow (perhaps more power as well?).

Again, I'm not completely certain, but I think crossbow bolts are significantly different than a regular arrow, so a bow and a crossbow would not use the same kind of ammunition.

One could also argue that Link would sink when he isn't wearing the Iron Boots and simply carrying them, but he doesn't. Logic does not apply to Zelda. Period. As for the reload or launching speed thing, I meant how fast it fires the arrows.

Hi no Seijin

Just because the Iron Boots defy logic doesn't mean everything else has to.

And having something else defy logic doesn't mean that it makes everything else defy it in tandem. ;)
