So I got Wii fit today. Me and my siblings asked for it for christmas, and my parents have been looking for it ever since.


it's pretty cool. Except for the fact that my sister lost 6 pounds by walking on a tightrope for 45 minutes, and that my brother wants to lose 5 lbs in 1 week, even though he's underweight, and the game said it's unhealthy to lose so much weight so fast. :-*

I have to agree. It is unhealthy to lose that much weight in such little time! ESPECIALLY if he's underweight. I should know. I was, and probably still am, underweight. But you guys didn't need to know that, right?

Seems good to me. I'm about 5 foot 9. I my weight bounces between 117 and 120. So yeah. Most of that, however, is muscle from my bike trip. Underweight muscle...

People should start going by mass rather than weight. >.>

On a small mass scale, a persons hand is off the charts. If people went by mass, more people would feel self-conscious about their weight.

Then the hand would proportionally add to the weight, but the weight is unreliable if the acceleration due to gravity differs from location to location, which it does. ;)

He's talking about the force of Gravity. The force of gravity is different on different planets or moons, with planets/moons of low mass (lower than earth's mass) having a lower gravitational pull, thus a lighter 'weight'. But mass remains unchanged.

Of course, there's no real need to differentiate mass and weight unless we're talking specifically about other planets,which would be realistically unlikely.

The acceleration due to gravity also decreases as you move up in elevation. In other words, you'd be lighter at the peak of Mount Everest than you would be if you were on the coast of Florida, for instance.
