Just thought I'd let you guys know. I have several scenes written (minus music, which we will add after the rest of the script is completed) and it's starting to take form. That's also part of the reason why I've been on very little recently, the other parts being plays and competitions and college preparation and senior stuff.

Anyways, we hope to film the musical over the summer, and I plan to have the script done before Spring Break, which is when I'm leaving for New York for a week to check the place out. I'd like to write the lyrics on the plane ride there and back.

It's going to be film; low budget, of course. Not sure how long it's going to be either; I'm really not sure how long My Fair Lady would've been without music (though I'm sure it'd still be incredibly long) and it's hard to judge...hopefully it'll go up on YouTube though. I may need to find better editing software, but we're getting a hold of some fairly nice cameras. I need to assemble a tech team.

So, do you have the basic premise of the plot down? I'd like to here it.

Will it end up on DVD? Or is it a straight-to-the-Internet thing?

Also, try and keep updating how this is going. I'm very interested in seeing how a film is made, especially one with limited resources.

Better editing software, you say? I do get the impression that Adobe Vegas is the go-to software for stuff like that. ...Ah, but you say it's low-budget. Drat.

Yes, the plot's figured out, outside of some minute details and whatever ends up changing once music is added.

If it somehow goes to DVD, it probably won't be sold. We simply don't have the resources, I believe. We may burn a few DVDs for the people in it though.

Right now, my basic schedule is this:


1.Write the script by Spring Break
2.Get commitments from people to play the music (so far we have a saxophone, two trumpets, a euphonium, a harmonica, piano, and a few other odd instruments.
3. Record any ideas I have for lyrics or tunes on my camera to show later
4. Assign someone to procure proffesional-level cameras (We will have access by April probably)
5. Assemble a tech team to do costumes, props, other technical aspects
6. Cast as much as I can in my mind from the people I know are commited, and think of others to ask.

Low budget being kinda like no budget in this case.

No budget movies get released all the time.

Also, if there is dancing in the film, then don't do the MTV-style two-second-shot things, like the "dancing" in Chicago and Moulin Rouge!. Be honest and actually show dancing.

In an hour, I leave for New York for Spring Break. I'm taking what's written of the script (about half of it) with me to show to some of the staff there and get feedback and possibly some assistance.
