Same thing with humans? I'd hate to have your dreams, DW.

Darth Wyndisis

Well, there probably are animals in my dreams that don't attack me, I just don't remember them.

MagmarFire

Odd. If that's a rarity, you'd think that'd be something you'd remember.

...But then again, these are dreams. Memory's so screwed up when they're involved.

Keaton

I have been a lucid dreamer since middle school, so my dreams are radically different from most people's dreams.

MagmarFire

I'm totally envious.

Hi no Seijin

I had a lucid dream once, but I didn't realize what it was until after I woke up and learned what lucid dreaming was a few days later.

Darth Wyndisis

I don't think I ever had a lucid dream.

MagmarFire

I don't know if I did, either.

Unless I forgot it, which is all too possible.

Darth Wyndisis

I kind of remember having one a looooooooooooong time ago, but I don't remember the details of it.

MagmarFire

Gah... Why do dreams have to be so hard to remember sometimes? Anyone in the know?

Darth Wyndisis

I'm going to invent a dream recorder.

Hi no Seijin

That would be awesome.  Or it would have been last night when I dreamt about meeting Angie Harmon.  You're always ruining my life, Wyndisis! >:(

Dreams are quickly forgotten because they're your unconscious mind's way of analyzing and coping with the stimuli of the day, for the most part.  Your conscious mind considers it irrelevant, gunky information and disposes of it quickly after waking up.

If you're having issues remembering your dreams, I'd suggest making a dream journal.  Every morning before you even move around, try and remember as much of last night's dream as you can and write that down in a journal/notebook/whatever near your bed.  Once you've got enough dreams written down, you'll start to remember your dreams better, and detect dream signs and patterns-- and that's where the real fun begins.

Darth Wyndisis

That sounds like fun.

MagmarFire

I wonder if that increases the likelihood of lucid dreaming. Thanks for the explanation, Tach.
