Time has passed, and much of it. Once again the firecrackers fill the sky, exploding both day and night in celebration of the adventurers who protect this land of Hyrule. For the newcomers to this realm, it was probably something deemed as exciting and joy-filled. They would run about in the streets, talking and sharing stories about their journeys with other people and other adventurers, having the time of their lives as the praise was heaped upon them.

For someone who has attended all three of the Grand Celebrations, it's just another reason to keep his hood drawn as far over his face as possible.

'They know not what it means to truly face danger . . .' he thinks with a smirk as he walks through the crowd, drawing bliss from every time when his red eyes flash out at someone who's staring at him. 'They don't live every single day fully aware that they ought to be dead countless times over. They don't live with the fact that today may very well be their last day ever.' It might not be exactly the most friendly thing to be thinking, and it likely isn't true concerning everyone in the crowd, but as far as generalizations go the Sheikah is willing to call this one likely and leave it at that.

Even though he finds these festivities a waste of time - not to mention a perfect opportunity for any enemies of the adventurers to strike and kill off a good number of them - he still manages to snag a piece of cake from the line of Hylian Knights. And then he heads back towards the shadows, wondering what or who he might bump into along the way . . .

'Well,' he thinks with a sigh uttered in between bites, 'at least the cake is still good.'

OOC: I swear we already did this >.>

Shigure moves his massive Goron form from place to place, examining all the kiosks and events. These humans never seize to amaze me. He thought, as he walked towards the center of the courtyard where a mass of people is gathering.

Caught a bit off guard, he is approached by a knight holding a piece of pie. No. Cake! Shigure's eyes dilated as the cake was brought before him. "Rrrrrr... For me?" Shigure asked, as he took it not waiting for an answer. Touched by the generosity of the knight, he was about to speak once more, before he realized that it was a public event.

He chuckled to himself as the cake was passed out to everyone. "I should have known!" He smiled, as he chucked the cake into his mouth. A shock went through his body. "It-Its delicious!!" He nearly shouted. "I HAVE THE POWWEEEERRRRR!!" He shouted as the power surged through his veins. "DELICIOUS!!" He cried, as he rolled away.

Arrika took the cake with wide eyes, never having seen such a delicious piece in her entire life. She thanked the one who had given it to her many times before Kobas had to pull her away with an embarrassed smile.

"Do they do this every year?" She asked Kobas between mouthfuls.

The half-Sheikah rogue nodded, making Arrika grin with delight. Soon the cake had disappeared, but Arrika was too full to be disappointed. It had been very rich and heavy, sweeter than the rougher foods she was used to.

Upon overhearing the word "cake" Luna advanced toward the edge of the crowd. Everyone was huddled a round a central point, and it was tough to move. "Kumori," she called to her companion, "Is there really free cake, or am I mistaken?"

The fairy flew over heads into the midst of the crowd. Spying his prize quickly being dished out below, he snatched a piece that was small enough for him to carry. Hauling his trophy back to where Luna was, he smugly took a huge bite, savoring the flavor. "Get.... your.... own.... piece...." he mumbled between bites.

Luna slowly made her way through and finally nabbed a slice. Just looking at the piece of cake made her mouth water. And the smell, it was like a dream.
"Are you going to eat it or what?" Kumori asked, his mouth still covered with crumbs.
She took a bite, and Luna could have sworn that she was eating a light and fluffy cloud.

For the third year in a row (as if years could proceed in any other manner), Victor failed to share in the excitement around him. And yet he had been waiting all day for the celebration to begin, albeit with a significant frown dominating his general composure. It seemed that every year's celebration had to be spoiled by the single object that caused his discontent: the towering cake.

For as long as he could remember, the Bard had harbored an intense dislike for cake. Past birthdays were populated by large cookies, or succulent cheese wheels. Cakes of all kinds were banned from the ceremonies, wishes or no wishes. And yet, at the first Grand Celebration, Victor felt compelled to consume his carving of cake, if only for his beloved home of Hyrule. And, once he realized the true power of the slices, he reluctantly returned for more.

And today was no different. The Hylian had mentally and physically prepared himself for the undertaking, training for days with cake simulators. No cake could best him; he could stomach the dreaded pastries with the best of them, now. Yet, though Victor had spent the day's wait steeling himself for the coming cake, he continued to frown at the notion of eating it.

Soon enough the desert made its grand entrance, soon enough it was Victor's turn in line, and soon enough he was gagging on the wispy sweetness of the cake, quite literally forcing it down his throat, and lifting a triumphant fork to the skies. He had managed it, again...

The cake, though being handed out by one such as Tingle, is quickly taken away by any and all people in the area and devoured in an instant. Their taste buds spark as the delicious pastry and icing slide down their throat, and most walk away without a second thought as to what the sensation the cake brings might be.

Some, however, recognize the cake as what it truly is, a TINGLE-filled piece of heaven. New power can be felt emerging within all who eat the tasty treat, hopefully serving to prepare them for the trials of the next year as they continue to protect Hyrule from the dark fates that would befall it.

OOC: I suppose taking advantage of this will be useful.

IC: Celebration. Nothing else matters. No troubles in the world. No memories of dead and loved ones who lie now dead under the earth in simple graves. The feeling is good. No Exiles, no enemies, no blood-lust to keep you from whimpering back fear on the battlefield. Only peace and joy. Celebration.

A lone teenager sat alone. His parents were either prisoners or dead from when Ganon's armies raided Saria. He was told to go North. He became a common thief who begs and steals for a living. Had it really been ten years now?

All his life he thought that life wasn't worth anything. What use was survival when you're in the middle of the war. Why hadn't he died instead of his parents? Why did Din curse him to live on? All seemed grimly despairing. Depressing. Sorrowful. The light of the red from flames before the midnight sky, smoking burning his eyes and nose. Burned alive in a well. Exiles' doing. He was cursed to not be one of them.

Yet here he was. Everyone seemed so happy. Why? They all seemed to gather around a cake. A massive cake that made his starving mouth spill saliva. He went for it. He reached for it in stealth, but when a guard saw him he pulled back, looking ashamed, preparing for his usual punishment.

The knight only laughed. "Come, boy! Eat! Celebrate Hyrule's birthday with us!" the summer evening, though darkness filled the sky like that day ten years ago, now glowing with joyful fires rather than the fires of pain and suffering. He laughed along with the knight, and took his share. More than his share. But no one seemed to care. They all just drabbed another slice and continued to laugh over simple jokes. For the first time in years, he was actually smiling and laughing. He reached for some ale, but the knight pushed him away from it. "Not yet, kid. Wait a year or two." Though disappointed, his smile never faded. He nodded and reached for another piece of cake.

The wonders of night. This was what it meant to be happy. This is celebration.

Then I see it & the drums & my heart stop beating in sync. There it is. I can feel its breath & eyes. Its desire to see blood. Red grass rather than green. The mass glows with shadows. Are we ready?

Are you, fellow adventurers?

A darkly clad figure walked up to the cake, and took a plate for himself with a quick and precise grab. "Hmmm... It has been a year already... Time does seem to have a nasty habit of slipping away from us all..." The Tempest said coolly, digging into the delicious piece of cake with his bare hands... He looked around and saw several familiar faces, and some that where newer to this years celebration. "And we have so many new adventurers in the city now, It sure is good to be back...."

OoC: Assume a begged forgiveness if it's too late to Take The Cake this year

IC:

He'd always wanted to visit North Castle at the time of the Grand Celebration. In his fifty-four years of life he'd just never had the opportunity. As a boy he'd wanted nothing more than to fight in the annual adventurer tournament, however this dream was short-lived for someone living so many leagues across the sea. Mezo Morrell had missed out on the his native Hyrulean culture as a result of a miserable upbringing in the wintry regions of the Kold Archipelago, much farther north than sunny Hyrule.

Now, however, he'd found the time to make an appearance. If the height-impaired Deku man had not been wearing his now mandatory black hood, cloak, boots and gloves combo he would have mingled with the crowd and met some of the unfamiliar faces. All of these adventurers looked so interesting and ... abnormal, but not entirely in a bad way. He let out a sharp Deku sigh and walked solemnly towards the odd green-clothed man. The Deku peoples had always maintained a decent enough connection to the faerie race, and this odd fellow was certainly not a faerie. The seasoned forest-dweller chuckled audibly as he approached the giver of delicious pastries.

“I'd like a piece of that cake there,” he squeaked in his rubbery sort of voice, feeling very much superior to the odd man, and yet simultaneously intimidated, recalling his own abnormalities. Height, voice, appearance ... Mezo was a Deku, one of the most bizarre genetic concoctions the world had seen. Perhaps judging Tingle, the likely mild-mannered but childishly obscene man, was not something he ought to be doing at this moment.

“Er, yeah, cake ... please ... If you wouldn't mind ...”

The old man waited impatiently as he was trampled under foot by all of the taller people in the courtyard. He eagerly awaited his slice, wishing only to scurry away to a less bustling place to stand. He wanted to enjoy the festivities; from a safe distance would be the ideal place to do so.

Sukotsutsu was walking around to see the daily things in life. It seemed to be the best day ever And It was getting better. A knight offered cake to him. Sukotsutsu took the cake and said "Thanks," in a nice gently voice. Sukotsutsu took a bite of the magical cake. It was the best thing he ever tasted. The flavor made His mouth water for more. Sukotsutsu took two more bites finishing it. "Thanks, This was the best cake ever," Sukotsutsu said as he walked away.
