Okay, yeah, it's a bit past Saturday. I have no excuse, really. So sue me.
Nkidrazil Taarvan

STATS

Body - 3 (6 BP)
Mind - 6 (12 BP)
Soul - 4 (8 BP)
(26 BP Total)

Combat Value - 5
Defense Value - 3
HP - 3
MP - 5

SKILLS

L1 Stealth (3 BP)
L1 Urban Tracking (2 BP)
L1 Wilderness Survival (3 BP)
L2 Wilderness Tracking (6 BP)
L2 Climbing (4 BP)
L1 Melee Defense (6 BP)

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Ability: Enhanced Sense
-enhances senses at any time in order to track, scavenge, and detect items that the naked eye could never hope to locate

Ability: Fire Breath
-breathes fire at an enemy (duh) - uses MP
-may be used outside of battle to help stay warm, light fires, burn spiderwebs, etc. without MP cost

Ability: Environmental Aptitude
-can easily maneuver over difficult or unusual terrain, including lava pits, jagged cliffs, through blizzards, etc.

Ability: Eye of Wisdom
-Taarvan may analyze an opponent and determine their fighting/elemental/etc. strengths and weaknesses, and communicate this information to his allies
-uses 1 turn
-if communicated to allies, opponent may choose to switch his style (Taarvan doesn't have telepathy, after all, the enemy can hear it too!)

DISADVANTAGES

Defect: Cold-Blooded
-As a reptile, Taarvan's agility and reflexes are slowed when in cold regions
-Conversely, in hot regions, his abilities are enhanced, but not by nearly as much as the cold slows them down

Defect: Combat Minimalist
-Though he can wield the serpentine dagger, his preference to avoidance of fighting leads to him being weak offensively, and it is mostly used to ward off attacks
-Taarvan will choose to avoid combat if at all possible, and if he must fight will often hang out in the back of the melee
-Might annoy his allies a little . . .

Defect: Over-analysis
-though he has a sharp mind, he tends to over-think certain situations

A small creature walks among the inhabitants of the Castle Town. For the ones who notice him, they stare in bewilderment. Only the youngest of children recognize what he is, but they are shocked at his size. He is a furry creature with a fine red hat. He seems to be adorned in unusually large blades of grass, and his tail seems to be composed of two feathers. He stands at about two foot tall, enourmous for his species, and he quietly listens to the man speaking to the crowd. He is intrigued by the man's ideas, and he decides that he will attempt to learn more...

Enter...
KELARI: The Minish
Power: Weak
Wisdom: Above Average
Courage: Usually Weaker, Occasionally Very Strong

Vices and Virtues: Kelari believes in helping the weak. If a person is in danger, Kelari will usually help out. However, in situations where only he is in danger, he will make more calculated decisions, and he is never too proud to retreat. Helping people for personal gain is something Kelari despises.

Blessings and Curses: Kelari views life as the most precious of blessings, one that should be protected at all costs. Evil is the ultimate curse, and it is the one time that the blessing of life should be withdrawn.

Angels and Demons: Angels are those spirits who are devoted to upholding the Blessing among the inhabitants of the world. The Minish are a race of angels, hailing from the Realm of the Heavens(I'll explain if you want me to). Demons, in retrospect, are those that contain the Curse, and the Angels will usually battle them.

Kelari's proudest achievement is the fact that he is an angel, tasked with protecting life. He is most ashamed of his defeat at the hands of one Minish who turned to the Curse and changed to a human.

Kelari carries most objects inside his satchel. However, he does carry a small emblem granted to him by Farore that is embedded in his hat. This item allows him very short range teleportation, a necessity for the tiny Minish who travel across the land. He also carries a single seed with him. When he plants it, it will grow very rapidly into a flower. This flower drops another seed for Kelari to take and, depending on the liquid used to fertilize it, produces picolyte for consumption. He also wears an amulet around his neck that serves as a constant reminder of his duty to life.

Kelari received his charge as an angel upon his coming of age, a significant time in the life of every Minish. Shortly after this, a renowned Minish elder and inventor was transformed by an evil Minish. Several angels tried to stop him, but his power was very great, and he quickly defeated the angels. Kelari was among the defeated, and he was transformed to a larger size, forced to travel the world of Hyrule, with no way to return to his home in the Heavens. His defeat and exile has caused him to be much more cautious and contemplating regarding his actions. Still, he never forgets his pledge to protect life and fight the Curse.

His ultimate goal is to discover a way to return home, but in the mean time, he is focussed on fulfilling his duties as an angel. He is committed to helping any that he can who are not tainted by the Curse while fighting the evil that seeks to destroy the Blessing.

OOC: Hooray! I've returned form Christmas break. Sorry about the delay! No internet or time in my home town, welcome to Wyoming folks. I love our latest addition to the cast and look forward to further developing our relationship together. Keep checking back on this page as I will be starting the quest today! Again really sorry about the delay. One change, everyone multiply your HP and MP by five; originally I had decided to forgo this rule too keep the numbers small and the math very simple, but I feel we need more variety in these terms and it will also make the transition to actual use of MP (where I see the most confusion under the current system) much simpler (i.e. more subtle variances in MP cost for differing characters abilities.) For those of you without profiles for your latest characters I suggest you create them, but If you want to apply the XP for these characters to your current characters by running two characters under one profile, I can't really complain. Please give a character synopsis in your signature or a link to a separate charter sheet for my convenience. I've got some rat killing to do but i will return in a couple of hours. Look forward to it!

Suddenly Zarathustra leaps to his feet. Throwing back his cape and throwing his hand palm outstretched north he says:

The first trial has come! The Goddesses ask you to prove your strength! You must tame the beast of ignorance! Through the windows of your eyes you shall see the green strength of Farore’s love. And this love shall drive you to Overcome. Farore demands courage, seek her challenge amidst the dwellings of men, in the temple of light and life. Bring me sign of your overcoming and you shall know the path the Overman has set for you!

With this Zarathustra folds himself into a heap on the ground and drops his head on his chest. He mutters under his breath strange medications in a tongue you do not recognize.

Busy contemplating the merits and drawbacks of having scales for skin, Taarvan is momentarily surprised when the prophet unexpectedly leaps up. The lizard's eyes are quick to follow Zarathustra's arm as it point northward as he describes their destination. 'Tame the beast of ignorance, he says?' His toothfilled jaws work their way into the formation of a smile as he quietly rises. 'I would certainly hope being a 'beast' myself would count for something in this sort of endeavor . . . why do they call us beasts, anyway? I am a rather learned creature, even moreso than most of these Hylians, at least . . .'

Busy focusing on this line of thought, the former Nkidrazil subconsciously gathers his cloak around his form and his tail back into his arm's grasp, checks to make sure his Serpentine Dagger remains at his waist, and maneuvers away from the prophet's now-sitting form. At the edge of the courtyard, however, he abruptly turns back to give the man a harsh glance as something clicks in his mind. The only 'dwellings of men' to the north exist . . . in the mountains. In the cold. 'I despise the cold . . .'

But such things cannot be helped, so Taarvan quickly takes his leave of the North Castle.

OOC: Sorry I took so long preparing these... What can I say, I've been lazy XD But I'm going to try my best to jump right in, so here are the stats for Veldacus. Tomorrow, there may be an alternate account for him, as well as an actual post :P

Veldacus
Mind: 4 (8 BP)
Body: 2 (4 BP)
Soul: 6 (12 BP)
Total: 24 BP, 26 Remaining

Combat Value: 4
Defense Value: 2
Health Points: 4
Magic Points: 5

Skills:

L2 Disguise (6 BP)
L3 Area Knowledge (9 BP)
L1 Performing Arts (2 BP)
L1 Stealth (3 BP)
L2 Thrown Weapons (6 BP)
Totals: 26 BP

Abilities:

Ability: Sudden Death
Veldacus will use this perfected technique very rarely to match his odds against an enemy. If executed properly, the enemy will perish instantly (or will be greatly damaged, depending on level of foe), but if failed, Veldacus will lose all Health Points. Useful for regular enemies, but not recommended against a boss, as failure to execute is fatal.

Ability: Triple Slash
During combat, Veldacus can summon a rare drive to perform an astonishing dual-wielded sword maneuver, followed up by a grand-slam from his larger sword. The first strikes deal damage as normal, while the third will deal triple.
Consumes MP.

Ability: Rationale
Veldacus, over time, has become an ultimate thinker. He can find answers to problems, riddles, paths, and secrets with little effort. This makes him very useful in dungeons, conflicts and many other situations.

Defects:

Defect: Instinctive Shun
Veldacus will often ignore the advice, and sometime opinions, of others. He almost always goes with his own instincts, despite the reasoning offered by allies. Because of this attitude, he can be very uncooperative and will annoy allies, especially when his actions, although well-thoughtout, lead to group destruction.

Defect: Pax Romana
In combat, Veldacus will not join battle until ultimately provoked by an enemy. This can be stressful for the party, as there are always battles in which Veldacus will not be involved. It can almost get to the point in which allies hope the dungeon boss targets him first.

"Take care of your sister," those were the last words he heard from his parents. They were going on a trip to Hyrule Castle. Michael was staying home with his sister. His younger sister was annoying, but he wouldn't trade her for the world. However, on the third day his parents were away, his sister was playing outside.

Suddenly, some Hyrule guards rode into town on horses, but what Micheal, who was 14 then, didn't know was that they were drunk. "Hey, Peter, watch me kill this village kid," said one of the guards. It was to late for Michael, they threw a dagger at his sister Rebeca, who was 9, and she instintly died.

Michael took his sword, and tried to attack the guard. He was to clumsy with the sword, and he failed to kill the guards, then they left. Michael's parents never returned home, and Michael thought they found out about Rebeca, and that they hated him. However, Michael's parents were really killed by robbers, who hid the bodies.

A year later, Michael had achieved his goal of avengement, he was granted the power of the Angle of Death, by the Great Fairy of Choas, who lay dormant for a long time. Of course, once Michael freed her, she granted him her power and he had the power to become the Angle of Death when he pleased.

Now, Michael is 16, and he lives as an Orphan during the day, figuretiflly speaking, and the Angle of Death, who must kill as many guards as possible, at night, also figuretiflly speaking.

OOC:By the Way, Zarathustra, nice name. Did you get it from Xenosaga? The only reason I know about Xenosaga was because my brother, before he moved out(he moves in and out all the time), rented Xenosaga 3, and man, did it rock!

As the man upon the platform finished his remark, Kelari noticed one figure begin to move towards the North. He figured that he should join this figure, since clues about his curse had long ago subsided. These 'new' tales just may be what he needs to discover the secrets he needs to return home.

Kelari dashed after the cloaked figure, nimbly dodging the feet that could otherwise crush him. Kelari fell in step with the figure and quietly said, "I'm coming." With that, Kelari fell back a couple of feet, quietly following the figure before him...

Michael, or should I say the Angle of Death, was doing his job again. He was climbing up a wall of a fort in his Angle of Death form. He had just found the location of another knight. His blood was full of excitement. He was about to kill several more knights. He hade just reached an open window, and he was going into the base. He saw a bow and a quiver full of arrows on the wall, and he took them. He was on the third story, and he went to the main room, which had an opening in the floor and ceiling of the third floor that spaned everystory of the building. He saw some guards below him, and he sniped them with his bow and arrow. He decended down and took a key of the guard. It was the key to the armory, and in that room was a guard who had stupidly kept the key to the living quarters in plain reach.

The Angle of Death reached the armory, 200 yards and 10 guards later. He killed the guards so fast they could not set of the alarm, a loud easy to distenguish noise made by magic. He invaded the armory easily and stole all the weapons he saw. He eventually saw the knight. He had a ball and chain, and was one heck of an enemy. However, he was quickly disposed of, and the Angle of Death took the key.

Finally, the Angle of Death reached the living quarters were their was several knights. The armory was so easy to acease from the living quarters that that is where the guards left their weapons. Thus, they were sitting ducks.

He, lastly, went to the room of the guy in charge of the fort. He was number 10 in order of officials in the circle of the Hyrule knights. Even though the man was ready for an attack in his office, he was defeated in a minute. The Angle of Death finished up by plundering all the loot, which he hid in his house. He would eventually use this money rarely to purchase weapons or armor. This mission was an otter success.

OOC: Hiya everybody and welcome to the new faces. I will return tomorrow with a proper critique of everything (whoo boy, not looking forward to that) but for now I'm just posting to assure you all that things are still in motion and to make a few points.

Angelofdeath, has done something that you all need to do and that is to list the MP costs of your abilities.

Vengence: Michael can use his hatred to increase his Combat Lvl., by 3, temporarily, for 3 turns. Requires Mp usage, of 4 Mp.

Now while this is not actually a reasonable price for such an ability (gaining three levels of combat value is the equivalent of gaining 3 in every one of the core stats, a build point cost of a whopping 18 BP! without some mitigating factor, like HP cost or backlash or something, to control this ability it could be used 3 times with your current MP stat raising your combat value to 13. As all checks, including combat, are resolved by rolling under a target number on 2d6, this would mean you'd have to roll less than 13 on 2d6, which is patently impossible. A more feasible MP cost for this ability would be 10.) we will all be working together to establish standards for this concept. One last thing Angelofdeath (or do you prefer Michael?) a soul of 2 if on par with a five year old, meaning your empathy, faith, willpower, and courage are that of a five year old child. Low soul is feasible, but I would build in a bonus for courage checks if you want to do more in combat than run screaming. love the concept, way to pull out all the stops. Your a little overpowered (this isn't DBZ guys) but we'll work on that over the next couple of days. I'm wondering if a scythe isn't more "you" as a weapon? Other points I will elaborate on, your story has a lot of potential merit, and I look forward to working on it with you.

No actually, the name Zarathustra comes from the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche who wrote many philosophical treatises. Some of his major themes were a rebellion against religion and state. He is most famous for coining the phrases "God is Dead" and "that which does not kill me makes me stronger." I am currently reading him along with many many other books, as I am English major (education minor) at the University of Wyoming; we English majors, we like to read. Like most philosophers, I agree with many of Nietzsche's points (strength of will and the desire to overcome the weaknesses in your own character), and disagree with many others (his perspectives of women are, in a word, nuckingfutz.) Many Nietzchian themes will be in our adventure, so look forward to it. Also Zarathustra comes from a pre-Islamic monotheistic religion of the Arabian peninsula.

Other points we will work on tommorow, damage ratings of comon weapons and a few rounds of would be combat so that you all understand what your getting into in that area.

For those of you who want to be the combat heavy, consider spending 2 BP to increase your combat ratting by 1 point.

See you folks on the ‘Morrow!

First off, by the way by in transformation, he has to have max mp when he sacrefices it. Also the ablity Die should be in quatation marks. As for your the name explaination, I'm positive that the name also comes from the final boss of Xenosaga, which was created to blind the eyes of God or something like that. Perhaps you did not know that when you made the name for your character, but it is the truth.

Now, I'll wait for your response on how to fix Vengence  along with the rest of my profile. Also, Michael, or the Angle of Death for that matter, does not uses a scythe as a primary weapon, although he could probibly pick one up and do devestating damage. I really what to hear your ideas on how to fix my character, and you idea on his history. I, personally, thought this guy was genius. Also, I you want to PM me I suggest you PM Orpheous(anew), my other profile.

By the way:Michael represents who Simon(he is in my profile of Orpheous(anew), speaking of which, can someone tell me what the 3 numbers that I put in the link that leads to Orpheous(anew)'s profile at the Travler's hostal) could have become, even though their family died different ways. I pointed this out just to look at it even though it will never be important.
