"Damn it!" Abel yelled out as Taint was injured. "Are you alright?" he queried; he didn't want someone injured this early on. The Zora seemed to be fine. "To answer your question, I came to redeem myself and do good."

Aria winced as the door slammed into the Zora; that looked like it would hurt. They would need to do something about that wooden door. Like set it on fire. Something the ranger didn't really want to do, as it would involve revealing that she was a witch, and she wasn't even sure that she could trust Eberron with that information.

However, she did have something just as good. The secret witch took a bomb out of her bag as she strode over to the fake door. "You might want to stand aside," she said as she lit the fuse and gently rolled the bomb toward the door. The Gerudo heeded her own advice and retreated halfway down the room.

Laughing gleefully in a childish manner, Eberron flung himself away from the coming explosion. Trust Aria to defuse a creepy and potentially dangerous situation with bombs of all things. Heh... defuse... bombs... Chuckling quietly now, Eberron lifted himself off the floor and watched to see how the blast would effect the bizarre, animate door.

OOC: Sorry it's taken so long for me to post, I've been busy with school.

IC: Simon had just hopped on the wagon earlier, not muttering a single word, not doing anything to put himself out of place. He just wanted to blend in this time. Others might have even forgotten he was there. He was also near the last to get out of the wagon, and lingered in the passageways to inspect for clues. Sadly, he found nothing of interest (Yeah, I don't want to god-mod, RG, but I won't have him doing nothing again, we'll say he did some insight and awareness checks and just failed each time, not that Simon typically does with his high INT and Human ingenuity, but whatever).

Finally joining his friends, he stepped into the background, again not really being noticed. He too looked around for clues Noticing that his dear Goronic companion had noticed something (sorry if that is god-modding, but I'm assuming he could tell that Rosen might have found something, I'm just really eager to do something useful for once and translate this), he stepped over to investigate the statue as well. "Rosen, allow me," said the Scribe, stepping up to how far away Rosen was standing from the statue resembling an Armos Knight. Then again, it might well be. "I'm a linguist," explained the Scribe, guessing he was getting a lot of confused looks by now. "What? I don't just write stuff, I translate too."

He peered at it from his safe point, and read the inscription. Then, he began his translating [Translate Check] [+10 Class Bonus] [+10 Master of Linguistics L1] .

Kagari jumped back from the bomb and the Gerudo. "A bomb." He stated bluntly. He always found joy in exploding things; well, mostly because of Nier.He backed away slowly and waited for the boom. He laughed and once again waited.

Darilan covered his ears and prepared for the blast. Bombs were probably an effective means of dealing with a fake door, but overall he thought it was a bad idea; the explosion might alert someone of their presence. He kept a watchful eye out for any enemies that might ambush them from some hidden passage. Hey, it never hurt to take extra precautions. [Unnecessary Awareness Check]

Simon's words caught his attention. "You found something. Good, maybe it will give us some guidance." His confidence in the other scribe was based on several assumptions: that the writing was legible, it was written in the language commonly spoken among Ganon's minions, and that the man himself had learned to speak Infernal. If his assumptions were correct, the scribe would have no trouble translating the words.

Startled from the scribes more than enthusiastic attempt to decipher the odd markings engraved on the statue and the small shove that came from such a dainty figure, Rosen stumbled backwards, groping the wall to sustain his fall.

"Sure..." The goron said, notes of bitterness weighing on its terse presentation as he relieved himself from his search. 'Hard enough figuring out how that little bookworm knew I was reading something.'

Rosen wasn't the biggest fan of exploration. Tapered eyes and cataracts were of know aid to him anyhow and with those two inconvenience barring his eyes he much preferred facing things head on and straight forward.

"Tell me when you open the door, buddy."

Due to the stationary nature of the conniving trap door, as well as its lack of any real consciousness, Aria's rolled bomb instantly obliterates its fragile build. Shattered planks of flaming kindling are distributed in a short radius of the wall this lifeless foe had been so cleverly placed. A square block of stone is slightly removed from the wall. An upside down segment of the Triforce has been carved into the protruding part of the wall.

While Aria's course of action has been quite successful, Simon is unfortunately not so lucky. His attempt at translating the strange markings on the statue is not met with reward, but rather with failure. It is clear that these runes are not a common sort of writing. (5+5+2+10+10 vs 40 Fail]

The aftermath of the bomb explosion does not seem to have raised any sort of alarm. Darilan notices nothing new pertaining to the question of enemies lurking in the dim underground lair.

Aria looked nervously around after the loud explosion from her bomb. But, like Darilan, she noticed nothing coming to attack them. And the Armoses seemed to be uneffected as well. The Gerudo breathed a sigh of relief.

She returned her attention towards the stone block her tactic had revealed. She, of course, recognized the Triforce, even in its upside-down state. But what did it mean? She wasn't learned in the lore of the Hylian religion, being a Gerudo. She'd let someone else worry about that. She pressed her palms against the portions of the stone that stuck out of the wall, running them across the surface in an attempt to search for something suspicious about it. [Awareness Check]

Darilan flinched when the bomb went off and blew the trap door to pieces. He was glad that the noise didn't bring any monsters rushing in. The fact that the Armoses remained in their stone-cold, lifeless states gave him a little bit of reassurance of their safety as well; he just hoped it wasn't a false sense of security that he had. If a loud bang or a Goron touching them didn't bring them to life, then what would? He cleared his throat and suggested to the group, "Would it be worth our while to move these statues? It doesn't seem like they are going to become active anytime soon, they may not even be able to do so, and they could be hiding something beneath them, maybe even a switch to open the door." He knew what he said sounded crazy, but their options were becoming fewer and fewer.

The scribe smacked himself on the forehead with an audible thump; it was a means of scolding himself for not doing what he should have done earlier: brighten the room. It would be the best contribution he could make. Aria was studying the protruding stone, he was too much of a weakling to move the statues, and he doubted he would know anything about the words written on the statue that the other scribe didn't. He took it upon himself to search the room for anything he could use to make an extra torch or two. If he had to, he would use the remains of the trap door, assuming the material it was made of was flammable and there were large enough pieces laying around.

"Would it be worth our while to move these statues? It doesn't seem like they are going to become active anytime soon, they may not even be able to do so, and they could be hiding something beneath them, maybe even a switch to open the door."
Eberron was still whooping and laughing like an overexcited child at the explosion and shattered pieces of door that flew out across the room. Calming himself down, he turned and replayed quietly in his head what his fellow adventurer had just said. His laughter dying down to a slight chuckle, Eberron shifted his heavy wooden hat as he scratched the side of his head.

"Hhee.... Sorry. Mm... Maybe I could help? I'm happy to shift heavy things. It's about all I'll be good for in a place like this."

Moving up to Simon, Eberron looked down at the strange markings he was seemingly reading.

"Any luck understanding that? Maybe you have to move these in a special way and those are instructions..."

Eberron laughed and blushed slightly as he almost tripped on his way round to see the other side of the statue.

"But I'm no good at ideas. Just pushing things. Pushing things and carving stone."

Simon shrugged by Eberron's first statement. He knew nothing of what he said. "I didn't understand a thing." However, as Eberron moved around to examine the statue, and possibly prepare to move it, Simon had an idea. "Hey, could you just not move the statue just yet. I have a theory. I didn't know Infernal, which I have no doubt this is probably engraved in. However, Darilan does," he explained.

He turned over in Darilan's direction, and called over to get his attention. "Darilan, do you think that you might be able to translate this? I'd be willing to bet my left foot it's Infernal, and seeing as how you know the language, I actually think you stand a far better chance at translating it than I," he explained to the other scribe.

Darilan was searching the ground for torch material and his hears perked up when he heard Simon speak of Infernal. After hearing Simon's request he said, "It is written in Infernal and you need me to translate it? Well, forget everything I just said." He stooped down to read the engravings on the statue. "This should shed some light on the issue." When dealing with Ganon's minions as much as they were, he was glad he spent time learning their language. Taint dove out of the way of the bomb, and while avoiding the explosion, he landed on the same spot that the door had slammed into him. Groaning in more pain, he slowly got up, and slithered back to the group. "I won't get any more brave impulses... I'll stick with the group and do what I'm told, I swear..." Lilly couldn't help but feel sorry for the nomad, and she flew over to comfort him with her fairy warmth.

Maverick was renowned amongst his fellows for being an expert puzzle-solver, but even this bizarre situation perplexed him to no end. He stood by himself for a moment contemplating the few features of the miserable room.

He broke free of his thought process to wince in sympathy for the headstrong, but notably courageous young Zora. He had heard of that sort of trap in the past. It was actually a humorous concept to the mage, but he kept his laughter concealed for the present time. Taint would likely find it funny in the near future. Until then, Maverick was happy to go along with the sympathetic approach.

For all of his wisdom, the Calatian was not able to call himself a scribe of any degree. His ability to translate runes and lettering was very limited, despite having spent countless hours with his nose buried in old tomes and encyclopedias. It was unfortunate that the majority of these had already been translated into Common speak before having been archived. He would have to ignore the statues for now and let the scribes deal with that issue. It surprised him that there were even linguists present on the expedition, and yet there were two. This made the scholar smile a bit.

When the bomb went off and the fragments of debris went flying, Maverick shielded his face and waited for a moment. He ventured over towards Aria and the others who had chosen to gather by the door rather than the statues. The first thing he thought of upon noticing the significant stone block was to give it a push. That Gerudo was in the way, however. He crept up beside her and watched her work. She was examining it, but didn't seem to be exerting any sort of force upon it.

"Here, let's just see if it works like this..." he mumbled as he set his palm against the block as well, giving it an energetic and hopeful push.

OOC: Sorry if you were actually RPing pushing it in, KW. I couldn't tell ^^;
