Well, they've had gun powder since way back in Majora's Mask, and they had a rocket-launcher type thing in Twilight Princess so... I'd say they've been leaning towards an industrialization.

My real Poison team in BW2. They all have perfect natures and EV's. I went the extra distance and bred the right IV's into them. Come at me bro.

Thing is, this isn't Earth. It's not going to develop at the same rate, maybe even not in the same order.

*ahem*

Quote from TWW:

"Swordsman... Are you the one who rescued me? You have my thanks! When all went dark around me, I thought my time on earth was over. But... why are you here, swordsman? What? The Great Deku Tree sent you?! Oh!  Th-That's
right. Today's the day of our annual ceremony! Oh, I'm in trouble! I shouldn't be here! I must get out of here immediately!"

In the English language, Earth is capitalized if it is referring to the planet itself. If the word is lowercase, it's either talking about rocks, dirt, or what have you...or the word the comes before it.

In this case, it's feasible he was talking about land rather than the actual planet.

Fine. This is what it sounds like if I fix it according to your theory:

Dude, bombs were in the first Zelda game.  Unless you're telling me gunpowder didn't make them explode, gunpowder has been in nearly all the Zelda games.
Best.  Cane.  EVER!

I guess, then, it's also feasible that he was talking about "this plane of existence." It's more direct and still holds true to the meaning. Either way, I don't think he was referencing a planet.

Don't be silly! Everyone knows everything in Zelda is magic! They were magical bombs!!!

Keaton

Let's not mix joviality with silliness, HH.

Now let's see here.  You can have gunpowder long before industrialization.  They used rockets back during the era of Genghis Khan.

However, I agree that they're leaning towards industrialization.

MasterKeyX

You're comparing it all to the standard of what we did here on Earth.

Let's keep in mind that this is Hyrule, and they do actually have magic. They might not have a need to industrialize, if ever.

And bombs don't point to industrialization. China had typewriters way before Europe, in the BCs, and they certainly were not industrialized.

And while we're on the subject of industrialization, there were telephones in LA, I believe. Why should we worry, again?

Link's Awakening was a dreamworld, so most of the technology there is moot.

Unless Link became the inventor of Hyrulean telephones...

MagmarFire

Oh, yeah. Forgot about that. >_<

OoA(maybe OoS, don't remember) had a seed shooter. Which was basically a (probably) spring loaded gun, filled with nuts/seeds.

That said, I am against industrialization. I think a mechanical dungeon which could be powered up by electricity, for example, would work. This is because it's still somewhat magical, we have no idea how it works. Like the ToG in WW, or the ToT in TP. But I do not like where PH is going, with a steamboat. It doesn't have a magical feel, I know, basically, how a steamboat works. The reason technology worked with the ToG and ToT, was because it was built by beings far beyond hylians and humans, and it was magical.

Zelda and guns is like... TLotR with guns. It's medieval, for the most part. A cute little thing though, would be something that like a mad scientist is working on, the player knows it's a train, but the NPCs think he's building some kind of crazy instrument. But not much beyond that.
