Even so, if it were sanctioned by Nintendo, it still doesn't mean that the content on the site is all true and good.  Chances are they found a bunch of geeks willing to devote their lives to Zelda (coughlikemecough) and decided, hey, let's let them do all the work and make us look good.

And that was my serious answer.  There is reason to doubt anything but Nintendo's official opinion, and since it's impossible to know their ACTUAL official opinion unless they post it on NINTENDO.com or the NOA branch (since every other site could just as easily be a fansite that Nintendo favors), it's always going to be a matter of interpretation.  Heck, even Hylian Dan realizes that.

Well, if it really isn't the official site, it's free online advertising on Nintendo's part, isn't it? They wouldn't need to worry about spending more money on advertising if it's that easy to go to a large Zelda site.
