Eh, if you feel it's best to wait, then I'll gladly wait. Like you said, it would give us time to attempt user input.

I'm fine either way.

PS: Mags, get Windows 7.

May I ask why?

And may I also ask how that's on-topic?

It's on topic because KP mentioned before your RAM issues and reluctance with runniung stuff, especially stuff like Audacity, which is directly related to the sandcast.

Vista is a broken OS, and upgrading to Windows 7 from Vista won't be a problem at all. This should solve any and all ram/slowdown issues you might be having.

Windows 7 is a far more leaner OS than Vista. I highly recommend making the upgrade.

MagmarFire

Two things, though:

1.) You assume I am running Vista. I am running XP.

2.) It's not RAM issues that I have; it's the RAM issues I'm afraid that I will have. For instance, I heard that if you run a video capture device for too long, your computer will crash. I figure that something similar could happen, but I figure that if I keep Firefox closed during the time of the recording, I can keep my fears to a minimum.

.........

You're... Running.... XP?

And you're worreid about having problems if you run something like audicity? AND you have 3 Gigs of RAM?!

*facepalms so hard*

QUIT WORRYING!

Besides, Audacity isn't a video-capture device. So that excuse is pretty much moot.

I have only a measly One Gig of Ram. ONE GIG. That's all. And my computer has NEVER crashed or experienced slowdown. Thus, I must conclude that your concerns are highly exaggerated.

It's not necessarily moot when you consider that it dynamically allocates memory similarly to a capture device. It essentially keeps all the audio in RAM so that it can be saved to the hard drive when ready.

And yes, you would be right in concluding as such, since I prefer to play it safe in most instances. Isn't that something that you would encourage? It's certainly better than going all, "LEEEEROOOOOOYYYYYY JEEEEEEENNNKIIIIIINNNNNNNSSSSSS!!!!" on the matter.

Mags wins forever. End of story.

We will probably be using Audacity this time around, though, guys, so prepare. Maybe we'll run Callgraph along side it, just in case...
The Fourth! A webcomic about the hopeless case of the game villain.

"Tis music that soothes the savage beast, but the dagger that causes long slumbers."

Callgraph would also be much more useful if I were to keep it further away from the computer I'm using to actually chat, which I'll be sure to do next time :P

There's a difference between 'playing it safe' and being so over-cautious about everything that you're afraid to do much of anything at all.

Also, about .wav files, there are lossless codecs out there (Like FLAC, APE, and Wavpack) that can make the wav file smaller without compromising any audio quality. That's why they're called Lossless codecs, as opposed to MP3/AAC which are Lossy.

And likewise, there is a difference between "being afraid to do much of anything at all" and refusing to actually go through with it.

Fortunately, I don't think I've ultimately reached that point. I feel I've made it at least somewhat clear that I'm willing to go through with using Audacity for the recording as long as I keep RAM usage to an otherwise minimum.

That would be a good idea. :P

Aw, shucks. =3

But anyway, the real reason why I'm replying to this is because I'm curious as to if a recording date has been slated. College is starting for me in only a little more than a week, so if it can be done, it would be most beneficial for me if we can try to get one more recording session in before then.

Let's do one, perhaps tomorrow or the next day.  That would be most convenient.

MagmarFire

That sounds pretty good. Whaddaya say, KP?
