Yes, that would be like appointing Michael Jackson as the head of the CPS....or ARnold Schwartzennegger at the head of a world peace organization...

Or like appointing a killer to the head of a rights group?

*cough* :3

And eating too much meat can have a detrimental effect on your health. For one thing, Meat has cholesterol. Also, Meat has a lot of fat, while vegetables have very little fat, and it's usually just in oil form. People who eat too much meat might have deficincies in nutrition, for one thing, does meat even have Fiber? Nope, didn't think so.

All right, that all may be true. You got me there.

But i still think meat is an essential part of a healthy persons diet. if you have a little meat and some veggies with some starch, all in moderation, it would be really good for you.

Yes, everything can be healthy. even wine and chocolate. As long as you don't overindulge in anything, it's healthy.

It's weird that you brought it up, but some people think that if you drink wine in small amounts daily, it can be healthy for you. Same goes for dark chocolate. But only in small amounts, not like an animal.

yes, wine can strengthen the liver I think, and chocolate has important antioxidants.

This again all boils down to a respect issue. "Hey I am a vegetarian, do not force me to eat meat" and the "hey I like to eat meat, don't force your beliefs on me". I have no problem with vegetarians or vegans, even though they are missing out, but I have a problem with extremiest like PETA who think it appropriate to pour blood on people just for wearing fur, eating meat, etc.

You know I know you want to express yourselves but being idiots is not one of them, and probably the most famous PETA member is Pamela Anderson. I ain't going to make a joke about this one but it just shows how intelligent the organization is when their most renowned member is a blithering idiot.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D I think the exact same way.  I know I'm missing out.  I can't eat so many things and my friends always say that I'm stupid for not eating cheese.  I get so scared when people say that they'll try to get me to eat meat.  And I'm a shy person, or half of the time I am, so I wont say "Don't do that."

MasterKeyX

Well, they can't really force you to eat meat. After all, if they had any respect for you at all, they would only joke about that and never actually pressure you to do it.

What I mean to say is if they slip a piece of unnoticeable meat in my food then say, "Ha Ha, you just ate meat!"

DW

does a tiny piece of meat matter that much though? and besides, you didn't eat it intentionally, so you are still following your beliefs.

Knil

To some of my vegan friends it doesn't, but others it really bothers them.  If someone stuck it in my food, I would probably notice, spit it out, and wash my mouth.

MasterKeyX

As long as it isn't intentional, i don't see how it would really matter.

Some people see it like cannibalism. If it's that repulsive, then a tiny, unnoticable amount whether intentionally placed or not is still a horrible thing to find out they've eaten.
Along those same lines, some vegans eat strips of meat-flavoured, meat-lookalike soy/veggie products, whereas others find that disgusting and stay away from them. Sort of like eating a piece of pork loin shaped like a human fetus? Yuck. It's all a matter of perspective.

DW

how could it be cannibalism, that's eating your own kind...

MasterKeyX

Well, in the dictionary, that's what cannibalism is, but some may view cannibalism as eating anything that's alive.

Or anything that's not a plant or mineral, basically. But yeah, that's about the idear. There are a lot of reasons why people become vegans. I don't even know what they all are, and I don't think it's possible to know what they all are. I am aware that some people become vegan for the sense of community, some even to mask eating disorders, some that don't like animal-based foods or find it gross altogether...and then there are others (the vast majority?) that just do it as a simple matter of personal ethics.
