Horrific alien mating ritual?  What on earth do you read/watch? :-[

Alien in the sense of being unknown and unimaginable to us. Though the image of two Grays "gettin' it on" is quite horrific in and of itself.

Yes, Rap is the worste, but there are good things that are like it, like R&B soul, thats bout the only thing I like that close to it. oh and country is the second worse.

I'm not racist, but I hate it how some rap songs degrage white people. I hate how some people think that becuase some people are white supremacists, that gives them the right to but down the entire skin tone group (you can't call white a race, since there are so many diffent cultures within it).
Also, what's wrong with country? All it is a mix a folk/western, and rock.

Aureliano

Their "god-complex"  I honestly like all races (I am latino myself), but I hate it when people tell me to go back to Mexico.  I was rightfully born in the U.S. and my parents pay taxes and are in the army.  I am also going to join the army.

But yeah, I like some rap that doesn't degrade women.  I hate it when people do that.

Twilight Wolf

I don't really care for rap... I'm not going to go and call it outright "bad," but it just has no appeal to me. Country music, too, is another kind I don't care for. I'm sure that there is good country music out there, but I haven't heard it.
What, you expect me to say something witty?

17 posts and I like you already. *applause*
Rap and Hip Hop all sound the same to me. I swear they use the same song over and over again. Also, I'm not fond of the metal where all the words are screamed into the poor, defensless microphone.

DW

Rap was good before it was about being gangster and having a bunch of slutty women hanging all over you for your cash. Eminem captured some of the original rap, and I thank God that he did. Rap is kind of like the blues, not really by the sound, but by the meaning behind it. When it's done right, anyways.

Quotemy parents are [..] in the army.  I am also going to join the army.

Jeey for you. ::)

Seriously, while I understand what you are trying to say, I do not think those are okay arguments. Saying you belong to a country because you joined/join that country's army sounds like you're walking the "We Vs.They"-road, which is disgusting. Then again, if that is your attitude as a "rightfull" American, you're fitting nicely in the unfortunately-not-so-stereotypical image huge parts of the rest of the world has of the USA.

On topic: I don't dislike any category of music. Every category has a few "defilers", depending on how popular the genre is. I don't like the rap/hiphop that seriously makes rude remarks about women, any race and/or homosexuals. As an example of a not serious rude song, I refer to Eminem's ''Shake That', which is too ridiculous/funny to be considered offensive.

As for metal/rock and the likes, I do not mind screaming/shouting unless I can't hear the lyrics anymore. That's pretty much where I draw the line; when the screaming is confused with singing and turns out to be meaningless.

Now before anyone goes up to take offense at this, I think the perceived stereotype that she has here is that the US will grant citizenship to anyone who works for the military, even citizens of other countries and thus enforcing a military state. But this isn't the case, so I'm asking that no one go on about this... as it would lead only to trouble.

There's gotta be a limit as to what defines music. Those who make music should have some training in order to express oneself better... Screaming isn't really music, it's noise, same with anything that is played at the highest possible volume. Maybe the thing is is that people are taking one quality of a genre, and run with the quality that appeals to them. IE: Guitar complexity of Hendrix and then with other generations just banging on the guitar, but without really producing anything remotely music.

I'm really attracted to the idea of Symphonic Metal; as it can bring about a strong dissonant sound that can be pleasing without being all out jarring. A guitar can be used to play something with complex and varied harmonies, but why people are associating these types of harmonies with harsh screeches and loud noise boggles my mind, the complexities have to be structured and layered, not strum out at any random chord at an extreme volume.

Nobody's answered my question about why they don't like country.

...mmm...Bwahahahahaha!  ;D ;D rofl, seriously!

Gamefreak

I don't label all Country Music as bad.  I like the Charlie Daniels band, which is some kind of country/rock thing.

It's probably due to the overall uncomfortable thing about it, its over-sappiness and not so appealing overall sound. Some of us don't really want to hear songs about trucks or drinking and women. We want to listen to songs that appeal to our sense of being.

It is in Dutch, Ladynintendo's native language.

DW

Some country is alright, but it's almost like rap in the way it's becoming about how 'redneck' they are, how big their truck is,  and how they've lost everything. When in reality, they're living in a mansion with ferraris and a private jet.

I agree with Ladynintendo on the whole every genre usually has good and bad music in it.
For example rap/hip-hop, I adore Kanye West's songs (Flashing Lights, Stronger Gold Digger etc.) and a few of Eminems songs are good, but I can't stand 50 cent.

I hate Bob Dylan.
