If you were to take a bunch of people, say prisoners, for example, and cut out their tongues, I wonder if they would make up their own language.  Well, I guess they would still speak the same language they always spoke, but just a severely impaired version of it.  It would be a neat thing to try, but just a tiny bit unethical.
