For a moment, Alpha actually struggled with something: the decision over whether or not to test Taint's threat by hurling a needle or two at him. That would likely have been quite counterproductive, though; he hadn't come along to start a mutiny, just get some much needed time away from people. His anger towards Dogura was genuine, but even that wasn't enough to cause him to actually start attacking someone. "My intention is not to hurt or threaten anyone," he said to both the departing Zora and the samurai. "I'm merely trying to get a point across." He glared at Dogura. "You could have drawn your employer's attention to that bottle yourself, allowing me to stay hidden. Then we likely would have reacquaintanced ourselves more amicably." (OOC: I daresay I just made up a word. Sweet . . .)

After a moment, half of the people gathered in the crow's nest have left, allowing Alpha to sag until he finally collapsed to the floor. Resting his head against the wall, he let his eyes close for a second as the frustration started bleeding out of him. "Just a little peace is all I want . . ." he muttered, the words barely more than a whisper on the wind.

His body frame's hardness slowly ebbed away as he opened his eyes, features having softened alongside his disappointment - whether he had made peace with the dilemma or merely repressed his rage is anyone's guess, but for now a touch of melancholy seeped into his own aura.

There was some talking on the deck; he paid it no mind as he finally answered Arrika. "Yukie and I share a common set of allies and enemies. That drew us together; we've formed a bond of battle over time." He smirked as he stood and began looking out over the ocean again. "He's a bit eccentric at times, but reliable. And he has certain skills as well, some of which make him quite unique among Deku. A good ally to have by your side." As are you, a part of him wanted to add for no reason he could determine. Still, the tone may have gotten that part across.

Alpha turned slowly to face her, a few sparse memories creeping forth unbidden. Compared to his interactions with Dogura, the time he'd spent with Arrika was far less . . . and yet, by some standards, far more interesting. The one standing out the most in his mind was the winter party in Ruto Town a while back. The thief did have a certain flair to her that made her stand out, and her loyalty to Sakiko - verifiably her polar opposite! - was an intriguing friendship. How had he gotten roped up with that party again? . . . oh, right. They'd had grapes. Rich, succulent grapes, almost glowing with color and bursting with flavor . . . truly a goddess-send.

He smiled at her, and this time it was certainly sincere. "It is good to see you again," he repeated plainly. "I'm always glad to have allies around, even if some of them are inconsiderate." He glanced over the side of and down to where Dogura was even now meeting with the crew. Yes, it was good to see even him once more.

After a moment, his eyes returned to scouring the ocean, looking for land. (OOC: Should I be asking for an Awareness Check? If so, consider it asked for :P)

* * *

Bounding up after Cap'n, Yukie had waited to let the Zora meet Alpha fer himself - there weren't nuthin the Deku could really say 'bout the matter. He was too far behind to salvage any mess the Sheikah made . . . as seemed to be the case, judgin' by Taint's sword bein' out and ready. 'Hope the boy ain't gonna kill Cap'n fer that,' he thought with a shudder. That'd be a fine mess . . .

Yet his fears were quickly alleviated, as Taint descended with the Sheikah staying behind. Cap'n swiftly started explainin' the situation, and Yukie caught onta Alpha's reasonin' mighty fast too - he obviously believed the note to be valid, the concern real 'n worthwhile. Wouldn't of shattered that there bottle otherwise. Still, it weren't until a face the Deku recognized stepped forward that Yukie was convinced. Seemed Alpha hadn't been the only one stowin' away on the ship unannounced!

Dogura - that was 'is name! He'd been with Koura and the others when they'd fought Wraith in the desert, and later durin' the encounter with Xamnial the Hakiem. He did look rather different . . . even his aura had changed significantly. But no, it was definitely him! And if that were the case . . .

"I say we be lookin' fer the lost soul," he put forward. "We ain't exactly helpless even if it is a trap!" he added with a laugh, patting his twin blades. He'd trust his skills, his swords, and his allies - and even if it had been a long time, Dogura had once been such an ally. By golly, he'd gladly put his faith in the man once more.

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUU--

Was Saber just a terrible salesman, or did shattering glass really outprioritize tomatoes? What sort of backwater community did this Zora--

Is backwater an offensive term to Zora? Really, Saber, filter yourself here, you're not acting very PC and that could lose you your job, especially if you end up having to sell to those dirty Calatians.

Digressing, Saber admitted that perhaps shattering glass aboard what they imagined to be a deserted ship could serve as cause for alarm. shoving the order form back into the cart beside his pristine wares, he trudged up the stairs after Yukie, hearing the excitement move from the discovery of the note inside to whatever the hell these kids were working themselves up over on deck.

Emerging in a slightly sour mood, the mercenary's face betrayed about twenty different emotions when he saw Dogura standing there, dispensing wisdom of sorts that was pointless to Sabertache. He couldn't help but stare at the samurai as the conversation went on around him. What's this, palm trees? Someone in trouble? Well, okay. Sabertache was just trying to sell tomatoes, he hadn't signed up for an adventure, but what the hell.

"Dogura..." The word was barely an audible whisper. He honestly didn't know what to follow it up with. Many possibilities came to mind, what with the youth's incredible emotional constipation.

Dogura, how've you been?

Dogura, where the hell were you?

Dogura, I love you, I'm so glad you're back!

Nope. Communication failed.

OOC: Three pages....I missed three pages of Roleplay in which Denkou could have done something....anything...I just assumed that someone would post something to say the topic was up....I feel faint.....

IC: "Huzahwha...?" Denkou snapped to attention, looking behind himself to see Alpha, some other Hyrule Castle regulars, and some guy he didn't recognize. Wait...this doesn't make sense. Last thing I remember, I was talking to Kasei about coming with me on the trip...he told me to go get my stuff and then there was this pain....

Examining himself, Denkou found that he had his lil' bag of holding on him, his equipment and some food were already stuffed inside. In addition to that; he found a little note tucked away between his daggers;
Denkou,

As tempting as it sounds to go out of my way to waste my time looking for your 'treasure' out in some remote place I've never heard of, I must decline your invitation. I'm simply too busy with my cohorts off in, oh I don't know, Saria town. Yeah, we're at Saria town fighting....something. So as you can see I can't possibly find room in by busy schedule of fighting something in Saria town to assist you.

Don't die.

Kasei.
"Wait...He didn't say what he was fighting....I sense a lie here." Denkou muttered to himself, and looked at Alpha. He is probably the strongest guy here. Not to mention Kasei'd be pissed if he knew about him. I guess I'll stick with him and hope that nothing too strong comes our way...like Sovelis.

"Hey Alpha." Denkou said casually, walking over with a strict ignorance of the events going on around him. "What's goin' on bro?"

OOC: Painful rebuttal in 3, 2, 1....

The sound of Alpha sinking to the floor makes the thief swivel around quickly, but he's up again so fast that she isn't sure if she imagined his mutterings.

A slow but steady blush creeps across the thief's face- was Alpha actually... smiling? At her? Why, the last time she'd seen that sincere of an expression on his face was at Sakiko's party... but what had happened to trigger such a smile? No, it wasn't the moments afterwards, when they left the party, and that pastry mysteriously appeared. She racks her brains; that party felt like an eternity ago. Then she remembers... it had been the grapes.

"...thanks," she says, looking away quickly, at the ground, at the sea, at anywhere but him. "I don't know anyone here except you and Saber. And Saber's a bit preoccupied with his vegetables... fruits? I don't know," she mumbles, feeling embarassed.

"I wouldn't mind stopping off at that other island for a little fun. What about you?" she asks, thinking of Everbreeze. "But going after the person who wrote that note... I'm here for some treasure, not a rescue mission..."

She sighs. A thief's opinon usually never mattered, and although she'd like to go on a direct path to lining her pockets with gold, if the rest of the group wanted to find the note-writer who was probably long dead, then so be it. "...I came along because I wanted to get away from everyone too," she adds softly, unconsciously tracing the outline of the scar on the back of her hand through her glove.

"Hey Alpha." Denkou said casually, walking over with a strict ignorance of the events going on around him. "What's goin' on bro?"

Arrika shot Denkou a flustered look. Couldn't she just talk to Alpha in peace? And didn't people understand a crow's nest was built for one? Then again, she had run up here to talk to Alpha herself... "Hey, Denkou," she said pointedly. Now there were three thieves on board? Din, this day just keeps getting better and better...

Sabertache wrote:"Dogura..."
Dogura turned his head and scanned the crowd. He'd heard someone think his name, but who here besides Taint knew him? Alpha's mind was a fortress, it'd be tough to pick up anything that the mage was thinking, especially when the samurai wasn't trying. Taint knew his name, but his brain waves weren't strong enough to emit a serious signal. His eyes darted around the boat for the source, when they finally fell on Saber. In fact he locked eyes with the mercenary. He smiled before turning around completely. "Ah, well if it isn't Sabertache." He said in the friendliest tone so far. He walked across the boat and slapped the man on the shoulder. "How've you been holdin' up soldier?"

Taint looked around as he clutched the note. Obviously there was little interest. They were right to be uninterested though. There was no guarantee that Moe was still alive, or even near by. He suddenly felt genuinely bad for dropping this on his crew. Most of them hadn't come for adventure like Taint. In fact many of them probably didn't care about a life. What was the value of a life to someone who signed up for promises of treasure? Taint's arms dropped as he looked at the deck bitterly. He felt that same emptiness that haunted him nightly. This was the first time that feeling had caught him in a crowd of people, however. He walked slowly to the side of the boat and looked off into the distance over the horizon of the sea. He held his hand up and let the wind carry the note away.

I'm sorry friend. If the circumstances were only different... I'd not let your life... Your story... Your last hope... Float away with the wind... The note looped a few times in the air before coming into contact with the unforgiving sea. The note was quickly saturated by the water, and floated away. The Zora put his arms on the side of the ship and rested his head on them. Well, nobody said that being a captain would be easy... I wish Lilly were here. He wiped a tear from his eye before returning to the crew. He was the fearless captain after all. What kind of brave captain cries?

He composed himself and returned to the center of the deck. The air was growing chillier as the sun was setting, so he was going to be brief. It seemed that people were locked in conversations though. He didn't really want to interrupt that. He held his hands close to his chest as he scanned around for a conversation to jump into. He looked to the crow's nest, and then quickly away. They didn't want him up there. He looked in Saber's direction. He was talking to Dogura... And Dogura was the hired boat guard, he was also only here for money.

Before long he was faced with little to no options. He once more meandered to the side of the boat and leaned over. He stared at the waves for a while longer as it got a bit darker out. After everyone wrapped their conversations up, he'd make the last announcement of the night.

OOC: Everyone seems to be in conversation. I'll let y'all finish.

Also, sorry Kasei. I thought you were just busy :(

Alpha chuckled as he continued looking around the sea for any sign of the island, Arrika's comments on Saber catching him right where it was needed. Any bit of humor was something he could latch onto to drag himself away from the well of anger he'd been falling towards. "I'm afraid I didn't pay Saber's cargo any heed. I suppose that's my loss." He made a mental note to actually look around and see if he could find these vegetables.

For the moment, though, his eyes weren't seeming to help any; he apparently couldn't find the island he sought. Either that or there was some superdimensional beings out there, one of which was in charge of his actions but was not being informed of whether or not the island is out there, thus making it so Alpha simply couldn't be able to find the island. Why the being in charge of dispensing such information was ignoring his every attempt to find the island seemed a bit odd and not the least bit annoying; perhaps he had been a bit busy with the actions of others? Or had he assumed Alpha would stop searching for the island while talking to Arrika, despite numerous assurances and notes stating that the Sheikah was continuing to gaze across the ocean for any sign of land . . .

But enough of silly theories like that. It was good for a laugh, but a waste of mental space and ability. Honestly, the Sheikah couldn't really explain where any of that had come from, despite feeling that there was some important truth lying there . . .

"Other island?" the Sheikah mutters, having exited his reprieve from reality (and perhaps sanity) in time to catch her comments on Everbreeze. Unfortunately, having not been present at Taint discussion of that subject, he knew nothing of that subject . . . in fact, all he knew about the voyage had been garnered from Dogura's comment - 'Gossip Isle', the samurai had stated, was their target. Were they stopping at another island along the way? For fun, she'd stated, so it must be . . . Alpha frowned, realizing that he couldn't figure it out. Normally he could deduce such things . . . but that was in Hyrule, which he had come to know pretty well. He was much less familiar with the ocean's islands.

"...I came along because I wanted to get away from everyone too."

Arrika's final words were soft but telltale; the way she moved her fingers across her hand with subconscious control reminded him of the way he often found his own hand tracing the scar which marred his face. They had something in common, he could sense now, something that had not been present when last they'd met. Before he could even think up a way to answer her, though, another presence bounded up to mast and joined them.

"Hey Alpha. What's goin' on bro?"

The Sheikah turned to the new person attempting to crowd his way into the crow's nest and if looks could kill, well . . . let's just say that Alpha's gaze would put a Beamos to shame. Too many people had angered him in far too swift a succession for him to put up with another person's nonsense, and he hadn't had enough time with Arrika yet to cool down from such intrusions. 'Denkou,' Arrika called him, was a name he recognized, but only through association with Kasei. He couldn't recall ever meeting this man before . . . and he had the audacity to call him 'bro'?!

Summoning his iciest tones and hottest glare, he spat out an answer: "I'm going to suggest you leave. Right. Now."

* * *

Yukie watched in a bit o' confusion as his rallyin' cry to aid the notesender failed to get any sort o' reaction from the others. To make things e'en worse, Cap'n seemed to have also missed his willin'ness to seek out the island - seemed to think no one were interested at all!

The Deku glanced up to the crow's nest, wonderin' if Alpha had spotted anything yet - but the Sheikah was too busy spinnin' away from Denkou to catch the Deku's querying eyes. The mage started looking all over the sea again, though, 'n that was all Yukie needed.

Skipping over to where Taint was standin', the elderly Deku slowed to a stop as he approached, sensing a mighty dark cloud havin' descended over the Zora. With a shake o' his head, Yukie strode over and leapt up onto the railing, takin' a seat on the side. He stared out over the azure sheet for a few seconds, then quietly chirped a few words.

"I say we search fer 'im anyway, Cap'n."

He looked over at Taint, his jovial demeanor having been replaced by a serious tone and expression. Gone, for the moment, was the humorous old timer who laughed at everything as though it were a joke. Now he was all warrior, all commander, the type of being who really could leave a life of war and still survive to such an old age. "It don't seem like anyone here's really against the idea. We ain't in no rush to reach Gossip Isle, afta all. You wanna make a detour er two?" He hopped down and stood at attention before the man, smiling. "Then give us some orders, Cap'n!"

OOC: Phew, these really are getting long! XD
Can't really say I'm complaining, though . . . ;)

"It don't seem like anyone here's really against the idea. We ain't in no rush to reach Gossip Isle, afta all. You wanna make a detour er two?"

That finally prompted Raven to speak up: "I am." Her decision to come along on this little voyage was a bit impulsive, and she was afraid of leaving Raptor by himself for too long. Without her back in Hyrule to take care of him, he'd probably do something stupid to get himself killed.

However, if the reward for saving the person stranded on the island was substantial enough, it might be something worth considering. "... willing to deviate from the planned objective," she continued after a short pause, "so long as the reward is worth our effort. If the island is too far off course, we shouldn't bother. There's no point in going many kilometers out of our way, especially if we don't know how much money this guy has on him. We can't afford to waste the time and energy for what might only be a few rupees and some pocket lint."

"How've you been holdin' up soldier?"
"I've been...it's...you like tomatoes?"

Dogura always seemed to do this; disappear forever, then come out of nowhere to knock Saber off his feet only to disappear again shortly afterward. Admittedly, it wasn't a healthy relationship, but how could he get mad at Dogura? But man, did he need to compose himself. He tugged on his belt a little bit, shifting his weight to one side and resting a hand on his sword hilt.

"I've been...well, there hasn't been much work, to be honest. The fight in the South has turned into a stand off until the Guard figures out how they're going to lead the next attack, so I've turned to...alternative sources of payment. Tomato selling, actually. What about you, Dogura?"

Taint turned his head in the direction of the voice. The Deku sat on the edge of the boat. "Thanks, but... I have to think of what's in the best interest of my crew as a whole... You and I are real classic adventurers... I can tell you've been around a while." He looked out at the ocean. "A lot of people don't know what it means to really adventure anymore. A life is meaningless among this crowd, it seems. It's like they don't even care."
Alpha wrote:"It don't seem like anyone here's really against the idea. We ain't in no rush to reach Gossip Isle, afta all. You wanna make a detour er two?"

The nomad looked in the child's direction. Most people would overlook her opinion, or digress. Being a child, most adults felt like she didn't know anything, and that her vote didn't count. But Taint had been there before, and he knew that it was important to treat her like the member of the crew she was.

It took all the Zora had not to explode right there. In front of him stood his point, but with feet. He suppressed the violent outburst, and nodded. "I understand. Don't worry. As it currently stands, we won't be going off course."

Sabertache wrote:"I've been...it's...you like tomatoes?"

Dogura cocked his head as a bewildered smile took his face. "Well... I suppose... They're not bad on salad. Why do you ask?
Sabertache wrote:"I've been...well, there hasn't been much work, to be honest. What about you, Dogura?"
"Well, I can sympathize with you there. I actually met Taint out in the Tantari Desert. He seemed like he was poor, but when he approached me with a contract I was a bit shocked." He looked at the group around the Zora. "There was a surprising amount of rupees offered. I guess he's been saving for this for a while. When he mentioned Gossip Isle, I was all ears." He looked back to Saber with a serious face. "I trust you know that Gossip Isle has a very high significance for us Sheikah." He tilted his head towards the crow's nest. "Sheikah are a rare race to come across these days... And yet there are at least three of them on board. This isn't a coincidence." He sighed and folded his arms. "I was hired not only to help make him a complete Sheikan alphabet, but to be a boat guard of sorts. As such, I won't be leaving the boat with you all unless given permission by the captain."

It was getting even darker out. Visibility was decreasing fast, and if Alpha didn't spot the island soon, there would be little to no hope of finding the poor soul tonight. As Alpha scanned the sea for any signs of an island, nothing out of the ordinary appears to him. Just a few ridiculously small islands, none of which contained the right type of tree that the note had been written on. It would seem that the survivor was a lost cause.

Taint stared out to sea. He didn't want to end the day on a somber note. But it was hopeless. It was getting too dark too fast. Taint ventured to the center of the boat and stood there for a moment. He turned to Saber, tossed him a blue rupee, and grabbed a tomato out of the cart. He then hurled it into the crow's nest. "Hey! I have an announcement to make!" He called out, hoping that it grabbed their attention. He waited until everyone was paying attention. "Your rooms are all located in the opposite direction of the Mess Hall. All except for the last room on the left, that's Scurvey's room. Scurvy is the ship's cat! She's friendly, don't hurt her. I'll be steering the ship tonight, but I'll need someone to relieve me at around five in the morning so I can get some sleep." He looked around until his eyes chanced upon Dogura.

"Dogura!"

"No." The samurai stated promptly.

Taint stared at him for several seconds before looking up at the crow's nest. After a quick moment of thinking, he looked away before finally asked the last person he was comfortable asking that wasn't too short for the wheel. "Saber? Would you mind?"

Arrika can hear everything Taint's saying, due to her hypersenstive ears. Well, what did he expect...?

"I'm going to suggest you leave. Right. Now."

Their Captain's frustration with his crew and Alpha's outburst makes a wry smile twitch at her lips. She suppresses laughing out loud and only a snort of amusement escapes her lips. She find the two situations funny, in a somewhat morbid way... Typical thief. Then again, typical her- when did she become so unsympathetic?

Free room and board, and an island of treasure... even if I come home with nothing, this will certainly be an... interesting vacation, she muses, perched on the railing and watching Alpha and Denkou's exchange intently.

OOC: Damnit....If he had any fighting ability.....

And Dogura; I am never too busy to further annoy Alpha.

IC: Denkou smiled from ear to pointy ear as Alpha snapped at him. "Oh wow, someone's got their pantaloons in a bunch. Sorry Miss period, I'll go waste someone else' time." He said in perhaps the most snide tone he could muster up.

Indeed, from what he heard from Kasei, Denkou knew Alpha was immensely dangerous, and initially intended to use him as an overpowering meat shield in his miniature quest. However, the sorcerer's sudden attitude gave Denkou a slightly...better idea. One that could profit at any moment. Lightning, if I remember correctly. That's good. That's very good. If I can steal some of this chump's electricity, then I should be more than capable of handling myself for a while... The thief plotted.

He casually turned his back to Alpha and, shrugging slightly, walked away.

OOC: May the fireworks begin!

Note to self: Next time I am offered the chance to go on a journey, choose Kasei or, failing that, LEAVE DENKOU BEHIND.

Yukie scowled for a moment at Raven, then shook his head. The young 'un's demands weren't unreasonable; if it weren't anywhere nearby, a search'd mean scourin' the entire Din fersaken ocean. They tried that, the guy'd likely be long dead before they could ever find him. It'd be pretty darn pointless . . . unless that there island was close.

The Deku glanced up to the crow's nest - that mighta been what Alpha was doin' up there in the first place. That thief guy was departin', and the Sheikah had turned back to the sea . . . was he . . . "Hey, Sheikah!" he called up. "Ya see anything out there?"

Alpha glanced down and his shoulders dropped. "No. I'm afraid not."

Yukie's head dropped slightly, especially as Cap'n appeared to give up. He shook his head and turned back to sea. Taint had given up now; didn't seem like nuthin would change his decision now. And unfortunately . . . faith in Taint was hard to maintain as the man's own confidence faded . . .

He shook his head. Well, if the man weren't too confident on his own, then he needed someun to be standin' by 'im fer now. "Alright then, Cap'n," he muttered as the Zora began issuing some more instructions. He glanced back to the ocean, saddened by the crew's decision.

'Sorry, friend . . . looks like yer on yer own.'

"Goodbye, Denkou," Arrika calls loudly after the other thief. "Oh well..." She's in no mood to pick a fight over something as petty as being ignored.

She glances at Alpha. Poor guy; being so popular must be rather tiring after a while. (Hahah... 8) )

"I guess I'll be off now. Running across Hyrule is finally catching up to me." It was a fake excuse, as she had lived in the desert for a year and was used to its harsh conditions, but it would do... Alpha looked like he needed some time alone, and if he realized it was a weak lie, then hopefully he would understand her intentions. It's not that she didn't want to be in his company... no, quite the opposite, but she wasn't selfish enough to demand that level of attention.

Without glancing down, she fearlessly flips backwards off the railing, landing on the ship's deck with a light thump. She glances up at the lone Sheikah in the crow's nest wistfully before going to the cabins.

"Since when does a cat get its own room?" Arrika mutters, and chooses the second-to-last room on the left.

"Well... I suppose... They're not bad on salad. Why do you ask?"
"No reason. Standard procedure."

Okay. No more tomatoes talk. Not with Dogura. There were a wealth of subjects, none of them tomato-based, that he wanted to discuss with the samurai. Undoubtedly, none of them would actually be brought up.
"I trust you know that Gossip Isle has a very high significance for us Sheikah."
"Gossip Isle...? Wait, is that where we're going?"

Oh dear, he really had forgotten something, hadn't he? That would explain the strange disconnect between his priorities and everyone else's. Really, he was stupid for not expecting something to be happening, what with the foreboding gathering of adventurers. If even two of these people were within a mile of each other, stuff was going down.

"You're not leaving the boat...that's...unfortunate. Gossip Isle...what exactly...? What are we doing?"

"Didn't the Zora explain things to you all?" Dogura asked before heaving a long sigh. "It's a miracle that he amassed so many followers without a clear look at what the voyage was for... Adventurers these days sure are different... Trusting, instinctual, impulsive, or stupid?" Dogura cleared his throat as he let the topic float away. "Gossip Isle is a mysterious island that seems to phase in and out of reality. Taint planned this voyage so that we'd land on the island with three days to figure it out before it disappears to wherever it is it goes." Dogura paused for a moment to think before continuing. "What he aims to find is treasure, but I'm not sure that it's a realistic thought. The island was inhabited by the ancient Sheikah for one reason or another. They're not ones to hoard money, like selfish humans."
Sabertache wrote:"You're not leaving the boat...that's...unfortunate. Gossip Isle...what exactly...? What are we doing?"
"I won't be leaving the boat unless instructed to, no. It is rather unfortunate, but I've been to Gossip Isle a few different times in my life. Every Sheikah owes their ancestors at least one visit in their lifetime. I've never attempted to crack the secret of the island... But there's heavy suspicion that something isn't quite right about it. Under command of the captain, we're looking for treasure. I doubt however, that we'll find any hard money. I'm certain that there are relics of high value there, just not hard money."

OOC: Finally Saber :P
