So, my mom is watching "Ugly Betty," and one of the characters is having a baby during a fashion show.  And I'm just sitting here thinking, "Gee, it's starting to get cliched to give birth in unconventional places."

Anyone agree with me?

In ^THIS^ context it does! I underlined it for you! Why dont you understand this? And if someone says "i'm having a baby" it is cause their pregnant or giving birth.  >:(

Sorry, but "having a baby" still doesn't necessarily mean "giving birth."  Especially since from what I understand of the situation within the show the woman giving birth was a surrogate mother for another woman.

Looking at what I said, I probably should have been a bit clearer about explaining the situation, and for that I apologize.

I have to agree with HnS.
Giving birth is the actual act of the child coming out of the uterus and into the world, etc.

Having a baby can mean that they will soon be a parent.  In this case, though, it could mean giving birth, but I don't think that that is what HnS meant.
