Quest: The Lost Toy

A Rito Caravaneer, bearing the markings of a New Peaktop Cartel employee, stands at the foot of the New Peaktop Skydocks. As you walk up to him, you can clearly hear him reassure his young son with promises of new toys if he would only stop crying. The Rito sighs aloud at the sight of your sympathetic countenance. "My poor son has lost his favorite doll, of the Hero, and without it refuses to leave my side. With his constant presence, I cannot do my deliveries for the Cartel, and my job is suffering.

"If you would be so kind... my son dropped his doll off the tower, so it may be somewhere on the Flats below. If you could find it and bring it back to me, I'd see to it that you get a membership to the Cartel. Any help would be apprecia--don't cry Coli, it will be okay!"

A toy? What sort of toy? Where, generally, down in the flats? The expression on Arco's face (though not necessarily his eyes) shows confusion, but he manages to simplify his question somehow:

"Toy? On the flats?" Arco sighs to himself. Adventuring really was a lot more moving about than mining and smithing ever dared to be. Perhaps I may need to "turn over every stone" as Dad said once... though I don't know what he meant when he said it.

He cocks his head, listening to the Rito as he squints and berates himself. Though they tell me to "act my age" too... blah.

"If you would be so kind... my son dropped his doll off the tower, so it may be somewhere on the Flats below. If you could find it and bring it back to me, I'd see to it that you get a membership to the Cartel. Any help would be apprecia--don't cry Coli, it will be okay!"

'Listen to the brat shriek. The father must be willing to pay a pretty penny for that toy back.'

"A toy in the flatlands? I'm on my way!"

Pende ran away, neck swaying wildly.

Ive never been good with resisting children... Denning neals to the childs heigt."I'lll find your toy son."

Denning returnsIve fouynd it!Here you are child.

The Caravaneer turns to you, "Oh, thank you very much!"

"...say thank you to the nice hero Coli!"

"Thank you..." the boys says shyly.

Marin has earned one talent point.

Pende returnes to still hear the brat's shrill shreik.

'Argh, my head! I'd better return the doll already. Just to have some silence from the child would be reward enough.'

"Here you go, sweetie. I belive this is your toy."

A vine bends and grabs a link from Pende's pocket to present it to the kid.

Arco's back. You wonder when he ever left. But at the moment he sits near the Skydocks, panting. He listens to the others, watches the young boy. The pale-skinned man feels inside his coat.

I think it's still there.

Having caught his breath, Arco lurches forward and withdraws the small plushie doll.

A pause.

"Here you are," says Arco finally. "I hope that it's the right one."

The small frame of the Deku can be heard puffing as he climbs up the mountains. "Damn... wasn't made for this... stupid... climbing..." Hearing the screaming child, he looks up and begins walking over. "Stop it, stop the screaming, stop..." His patience wearing thin he asks the elder Rito what the child's problem is. After learning of the lost doll, he says, "it must be your lucky day, kid... 'tis right here." Tossing the doll gently to the child, he thinks about how much better this place is when the kid is quiet. He gives a disgusted look thinking he will soon have to climb down.

Leon had been wondering why there was a Link Doll buried under rock.He soon finds his answer.Grinning,he shouts cheerfully,"Hey,here's your Link Doll!Take care now!".

Rugger approaches Coli and kneels down in front of him. He reaches out into his robe and pulls out the Link Doll. He hands it to Coli, smiles, and pats him on his head.

"Try not to lose it next time"

"Oh," Darilan pulls out the doll of Link. It gives him the creeps, that big eye staring at him. He hopes the real Link doesn't resemble this. "I have been looking to get this off my hands," he says to the kid's dad. He hands the doll to Coli and pats him on the head. "Here you are, little guy."

The Caravaneer turns to you, "Oh, thank you very much!"

"...say thank you to the nice hero Coli!"

"Thank you..." the boys says shyly.

Pende, Arco, Grenada, Leon, Rugger, and Darilan have each earned one talent point.

'What's that you say? He lost his Link doll?' Raven pulls out a strange looking doll of Link, that he found while exploring the Flats, out of his satchel. I wonder what Link thinks of the likeness. he thinks as he hands over the doll to the child.

'You said something about a membership?' He asks the Carvaner.

"Thank the nice man, Coli"

"Thank you..."

The child accepts the doll and gives a withdrawn, unsure smile.
