The Wind Waker
Hylian Translations

Spread throughout the many locations of the Great Sea are instances in which Hylian script is present. To the player at first glance, the text is indecipherable, but not with further study. Thus, listed below are many examples of Hylian in The Wind Waker and what they translate into English as. This list will be updated as new examples are documented.

Please note that words on this page could not be translated due to the fact that computerized translators are of limited abilities. If you know the translations for these words, please email me and I will shower you with compliments and your name on this page as a reward.

The grave that Tott dances in front of on the peak sticking out over the water. It was very hard to decipher, due to the plant life covering the inscription. Thanks to the help of Erin, however, I can report to you the epitaph roughly reads as follows.
    831 - 894

    IDAI NARU
    To become a great

    GEIJUTSUKA

It can be assumed the grave translates better as something along the lines of "someone who became a great artist". But who could that be? And how great is it we have some form of date confirmation in the game?
