navi trackers
the game that wasn't...

For reasons unknown, despite being included in Japan's version of Four Swords Adventures, Nintendo opted to not do the same for the American, European, etc. versions of FSA. Thus, it is necessary to take a look at the one Zelda game that wasn't meant to be: Navi Trackers.

What was interesting about Navi Trackers is that it featured Wind Waker-style graphics and featured actual voices as part of the gameplay. The purpose was to track down a series of "stamps" that are carried by one of Tetra's six Pirate comrades. The player would compete with three others to find the stamps before the others did.

The game is played out on two screens. On the TV, run off the Four Swords Adventures disc, is Tetra giving orders and hints as to where to track down her stamp-carrying associates. Meanwhile, on the GBA's the player guides Link across the map to find each stamp before their friends do.

Why Nintendo decided against giving non-Japanese the opportunity to play this game is beyond me, but it's still possible to get your hands on it by importing a copy of FSA from Japan. Furthermore, I assume that this game might be included in a future Zelda game, as it seems pointless to let a viable piece of merchandise just rot. But, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
