Legend of Zelda: The Twilight Princess
Walkthrough — IV. Goron Mines
In the first room of this dungeon, the goal is to (obviously) cross to the north end of the room. You'll find yourself doubling back along the top row of the room and then across. Watch for buttons on the ground as well, which are activated with the Iron Boots and turn off lava jets. Once you hit the north end of the room, jump on the lever next to the gate and use the Boots to weigh it down enough to open the gate.
In the next room, which for referencing purposes I hereby dub the “Magnet Area,” head left and down the stairs where two goblins and a chest await. Inside the chest is a small key. Back track up the stairs and head up stairs to the right of the entrance and across the flipping blocks to a locked door. Use the key to open the door.
From here go down the path and dispatch the Dodongo (who dislikes being hit in the tail) next to the lava. Cross the lava to the north end and take out another Dodongo. Cross over to the northeast corner of the room and kill one last Dodongo. Grab the chain on the large block and pull it back all the way. Then, make haste across to the place where you killed the second Dodongo and then cardinal east right across the lava and pass the block before it closes the path again. Open the door there and head on through.
In the next room jump in the water and equip the Iron Boots to sink to the bottom. Cross to the other side of the gate and step on the button to activate the electro-magnet. Walk up to the top of the magnet and then through the door.
Meet Gor Amoto, one of the four Goron Elders. After a brief chat he'll give you a key shard and instruct you to find the other two Elders who will also give you one of the remaining two pieces of the key. Plunder the chest behind him for the Dungeon Map and the little chest for 20 Rupees. Then, climb up the ladder and run over to the jiggling pot by the door which conceals Ooccoo (who's female apparently? Who can tell…). Anyways, head through the door.
In the next room use the Boots to cross the magnetic surface and take out a few torch slugs as you go to hit the door on the far side.
Back in the area with the Dodongos (but higher up), step on the button with the Boots on for a free ride to the ceiling. Head over to the northwest corner and past the slugs to find a chest with a Heart Piece in it. Double back to where you shot up to the ceiling and take a peek at the patch ahead of you. You need to snake south, then west, north and over to the door on a raised ledge on the west wall.
Back in the Magnet Area, the camera points out your next objective. Run across the catwalk and take care of the goblins at the magnet rig. Hit the button while wearing the Boots and step out onto the platform to get picked up by the magnet. Let it deposit you northward on the next platform and head up the ramp there to take out a few more goblins. Hit another button, and hitch another ride on another magnet to get over to the door on the north wall. Go through there.
Take out the Tektites in this next room and jump into the drink and use the Boots to sink to the bottom. Hit the chest over in the corner of the room to get a small key. Then go up for air and swim over to the southeast corner of the room and use the Boots to sink the bottom of the water and push the box out of the way to emerge in the cage. Climb out of the water hit the button to activate a magnet. On the ceiling, maneuver over to the “top floor” of the room and another button. Hit that to activate a horizontal stream of magnetism, which you should then jump in and slap on the Boots as you enter it. When you stick to the wall (nice spiral, by the way), move over to the crystal switch. Activate that and pass through the gate.
Dispatch the two goblins and run for the southeast corner of the room, avoiding the two Beamos. Smack the crystal switch and climb up the magnetic floor over to a chest in the southeast corner of the room which contains a Heart Piece. Go back onto the magnetic wall and deposit yourself on the opposite fork of its path. Run over to the rope holding up the bridge and give it a good slice to open the way to a locked door.
This next area I will refer to as the “Archery Range,” for terrifyingly obvious reasons. Run ahead through some wood gates you have to smash and to the right to where a Beamos is hanging out next to a wall. Avoid it but rather plunder the small chest for a small chest. Back it to the opposite side of the Range where a locked door is. Head through there.
In this room run across the rotating platform and up the ramp on your right to a large rotating platform with magnetic areas on it. Wait for one with the three magnetic areas on it to rotate top-up and dash over to the closest blue spot and stick yourself to it. When the platform turns 360 degrees so you're right-side up again, quickly hit the Z button to orient your view and book it for the next blue spot before the platform rotates and you slide of. Repeat until you read the door on the opposite wall.
Through this door is Gor Ebizo (they get ugly with each one, eh?) who has another key shard for you. Plunder the small chest for 10 Rupees and exit through the door up the ladder and thus back into the previous room. From the ledge you find yourself on, cross the magnetic swath across the wall and drop down onto the ledge with the door heading south. Go through that door.
Once you snatch the Bow from the chest use it to sever the ropes holding up the bridge on the south wall. Pass through to a Beamos gauntlet. The good news is that you can take out eye of them with an arrow to the eye, so death is not as close as it seems. Once they are all dispatched you can grab a Compass from behind one of them, and then hit the door on the west wall to find Gor Yoda (not his real name, but a man can dream). Plunder the chest behind him for a purple Rupee and then head back to the Beamos gauntlet and exit through the south door behind the Beamos there.MINI-BOSS: Goron Brute
The trick to this guy is simple (first, equip the Boots!) and strike at his chest whenever he raises his fist for a bunch. After four hits he drops into rolling position. Catch him like you did the Gorons at the base of the Mountain and throw him behind you into the lava. After three dips in the sauce he'll give up and let you pass to the south where in the next room the Hero's Bow awaits.
In the next room the camera will point out your objective – the crystal switch – on the opposite side of the room. Proceed forward and take out four Keese and roll into the gate to knock it down. Use your bow on the Dodongos' tails to quickly dispatch them and then jump to the platform they once occupied. Use the Bow then to pick off any torch slugs clinging to the ceiling (and the Dodongo up there for that matter to). Head over to the southeast corner of the map where a button awaits. Step on it with the Boots to hit the ceiling. Plod over to where the crystal switch is, shoot it, and drop to the floor and proceed through the opened gate.
Back in the Magnet Area, use the Bow to knock down the bridge on your left. Head over it and hit the button to hitch a ride on a magnet over to the north edge of the map. Head north back to the Archery Range to where that Beamos still should be (the one next to the small key chest). Take it out and head through the door that opens to above where the Beamos was.
Take out the two goblin archers and hit the button next to the rig to activate the magnet. Jump down and hitch a ride and detach the bridge that the camera so blatantly pointed out. Drop onto that (at this point you can turn around and hit up the northwest corner for a fairy and some refills) and head east through the door.
From here beat feet down the ramp to where the goblin archers fire volleys at your from. Take them out and drop the bridge on the south wall from whence another onslaught of goblins rushes. Take them all out with some fancy swordsmanship and proceed down to, and through, the boss door.
When Pyrus falls he'll return to his old form and peace will return to Death Mountain… for now. Grab the Heart Container and flee through Midna's portal.BOSS: Twilit Igniter, Pyrus
A cut scene will show a giant black form, steadily breathing. He notices you, and a gem on this forehead glows bright. Flames erupt from him, and he rips from his chains. Now for the battle. As you might have first thought, shoot him on the forehead where all the light is coming from. He will freak out, and start walking around gripping his face. Run along side him, and grab one of the chains he dragging around. Equip the Iron Boots, and pull back. You will trip him, he will fall down, and lay there long enough for you to get around him, and slash at his face. Repeat the process to accomplish this mission.
