The Legend of Blah Blah: What Could Have Been
[Blogging]
24 Jul 2012 - by hinoseijin
The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap was a good game. Mostly it was Link’s new ability to shrink himself down to size so he could tackle obstacles that he couldn’t overcome at his regular height that made it an interesting and fun game to play. But as good as I think the game is, I’ve recently thought that Nintendo jumped the gun by releasing The Minish Cap on the Game Boy Advance. Imagine, if you will, what The Minish Cap could have looked like if Nintendo waited until the 3DS to make it. Using the cel-shaded style they did in The Wind Waker, they could have made The Minish Cap a 3D Zelda game. With the 2D bird’s eye view of the world, shrinking is an interesting mechanic to help Link make progress in his quest, but all we see is Link as a few pixels running around in the regular overworld. When we get to the parts of Hyrule that we can only see clearly when Link is shrunk (the Minish Village, the Deepwood Shrine, etc.), it really doesn’t look all that different from the overworld. Sure, we get cues that Link is now only a few inches tall, but it fails to impress us just how small he really is. But as a 3D game, we would be able to see how miniscule Link becomes when he shrinks down to Minish size. Instead of seeing a shrunken Link as a pixel in the overworld, we see him as if he hasn’t changed size, but everything in the overworld is now gigantic. Grass becomes trees; bosses become much more threatening when you can actually see them tower over you; you can no longer see the tops of buildings because your point of view is now so close to the ground. We could have had a truly interesting and epic view of Hyrule, if only Nintendo had chosen to wait to make The Minish Cap. Now, I know it’s about time Nintendo makes a new handheld Zelda game instead of a remake, and I still want Majora’s Mask remade for the 3DS before any other remake, but someday, I would like to see a The Minish Cap remake on the 3DS, with the graphics completely overhauled in 3D so we can get the truly epic game it could have been.
The Legend of Blah Blah Episode IV: A New Game
[Blogging]
13 Jun 2012 - by hinoseijin
So, E3 has come and gone by without a word about a new Zelda game. But that’s okay, because My Nintendo New has announced that Shigeru Miyamoto has confirmed in a recent interview that preparations are being made for the next 3DS Zelda title. Eiji Aonuma wants to do a remake for Majora’s Mask, while Miyamoto wants to focus on a new game based on or starting from A Link to the Past. Personally, I think they should do both. Grezzo developed Ocarina of Time 3D as well as Four Swords Anniversary Edition, and did an excellent job at it, so I see no reason why Nintendo can’t hand off Majora’s Mask to them to remake in 3D, leaving themselves free to work on a new Zelda game. For the rest of the article, I’ll go over what I’d like to see in this, or any, new Zelda. Click on [Read More] for the rest.
The Legend of Blah Blah: New Year Resolutions

31 Dec 2011 - by hinoseijin
It is now 2012, and people are already making resolutions for the New Year if they haven’t done so already.  Some have probably already got a start on breaking them.  Unless their resolution was to stop procrastinating and they’re putting off breaking their resolution.  In celebration of the New Year, I’ve compiled a list of resolutions characters from the Zelda series would make for 2012.
The Legend of Blah Blah: Spoilers of Christmas Past
[Blogging]
15 Dec 2011 - by hinoseijin

Why, yes, I was waiting for December just to use this title.  It wasn't because I was otherwise occupied or lazy or didn't think about it until after Thanksgiving.  Nope.  Totally wasn't.

Don't worry, I won't be spoiling Skyward Sword for anyone who hasn't played it.  It would be rather hard to, considering I have yet to play it.  Besides, the game is barely in the past, what with it having been out for almost a month so far.

So hit [Read More] for spoilers that should now be safe for spoiling; if you haven't already played the games yet, then you had several years by now to play them.  These games are fair game, so no complaining.

This is slightly old news by now, but GameInformer (The World's #1 Video Game Magazine!) did their October 2011 cover story on The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword.  Well, I finally got my issue in the mail yesterday, and after skimming through the previews and reviews, I read the article.  And what I read impressed me.  Click on [Read More] to find out what has me excited about Skyward Sword.

The Legend of Blah Blah: 6 Old School Aspects That Need to Return
[Blogging]
23 Aug 2011 - by hinoseijin

Okay, so, I'm changing Blah Blah's course here.  I didn't really like my last article.  I cobbled together a few notes at the last minute, and then I didn't pretty them up.  I don't want to do that again.  Sort of.  This article was pulled together at the last minute as well, but at least I'm not reimagining the Zelda canon and screwing up what I want to say.  This time around, I'm sticking to my opinions on the Zelda series itself.  And because I've been reading a lot of Cracked.com recently, I'm taking a leaf out of their book.  Click on [Read More] to see what old school aspects of the Zelda series I think they should bring back.

SandCast #4: Possible Zelda Hiatus, Impressions of Ocarina of Time 3D, and Super Smash Bros. 4
[News]
18 Jul 2011 - by MagmarFire
This must be a new record for updating the SandCast, don't you think? Well, there's a new episode up right here, so go on ahead and get to listening!

Also, for the first site-related news in a while, we have a new layout for the forums that KP whipped up. It looks really nice, so be sure to check it out if you can! (And join, wink wink.)

For more news, TDC now has a YouTube channel!. This means that, for the first time, the SandCast will be on YouTube for easier access and, hopefully, greater traffic. Still, we could use some more advertisers on our end, so if you would be so kind, tell all your friends, family, pets, and imaginary friends!

Who knows? We might have more video stuff up on the channel for your viewing pleasure in the future, as well. Just wait and see. ;)
SandCast #3: E3 2011

29 Jun 2011 - by MagmarFire
That's right, folks! After a few months, a new episode is up! Here, we talk about the awesomeness that was Nintendo's E3 conference, as well as some needed Skyward Sword discussion.

So what are you waiting for? GOGOGOGO!

Also, we have another episode recorded, as well, but editing has still yet to be finished. Rest assured, though, it will be completed soon, so get ready for that. In addition to this, we are planning on having the episodes put onto YouTube for better advertising.

What does this mean for you? Maybe you'll find out if you click on [Read More]. ;)

EDIT: I forgot to mention something: As Shika has subtly pointed out in the comments (harhar), there is quite a lot of echo in the beginning, which is my fault entirely. It doesn't last through the whole thing, fortunately--only through the first twenty minutes or so. Don't let this mar your experience!
The Legend of Blah Blah: The Ritos

11 May 2011 - by hinoseijin

Once again, it's been far too long since I've got an article up here.  Bad HNS.  But I am here now to throw around a few ideas for the Ritos, from The Legend of Zelda:  The Wind Waker.  As usual, I'll be rather free in interpreting this race, but for the most part I tried to keep as close to the canon as I could.  As usual, you're free to respectfully disagree and offer your own insights in the comments section.  When you're ready, click on [Read More].

The Legend of Blah Blah: Gerudic Culture
[Blogging]
22 Feb 2011 - by hinoseijin
Oh, dear goddesses, it has been far too long since I wrote an article.  My sincerest apologies.  Let’s get started again with a discussion of the Gerudos’ culture, outlining religion, racial values, leadership, trade items, food, literature/language, music, fashion, history, and symbolism.  But before that, let me make it clear that the following discussion is my own alternate fanon, which I try to keep based in established canon where possible.  Though I will not be going over my version of Gerudo biology again, this discussion will be assuming that there is a three to one female to male ratio among the Gerudo race.  You need not agree with me, but you must be respectful if you leave a comment.  Click on [Read More] when you’re ready.

Call of Duty: Ghosts
[Blogging]
14 Nov 2010 - by Walter

To help with the departure from a linear campaign are a set of special missions dubbed Strike Force in COD: Ghosts. The classic three-tiered Call of Duty perk system has been done away with, replaced by seven categories of five perks. The perks in the game can be unlocked with Squad Points that you earn by playing the game. Almost all of the call of duty ghosts perks and weapons are completely new thanks to the next-gen engine.

In Call of Duty: Ghosts, for the first time, the player will be able to alter their experience on each map using weapons and launchers. Many of the explosive weaponry can be used to destroy walls and cause events that can benifit your team. Each player chooses 2 ghosts weapons and their own level and items are available to their soldiers, so they can shape soldiers as you see fit to excel during different game modes.

Call of Duty: Ghosts offers players the ability to transfer their progress from an Xbox 360 to an Xbox One or a PlayStation 3 to a PS4. Squads is a single-player/co-operative/competitive facet in Ghosts - you use the ghosts create-a-soldier system and prestige in Squad vs. Squad battle, pitting you and your squad against someone else. The traditional level-up system is gone and has instead been replaced by Squad Points.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2
[Blogging]
03 Aug 2010 - by hinoseijin

Black Ops II will be the first Call of Duty video game to feature branching storylines. Black Ops 2, abbreviated as COD: BO2, or simply BO2, is an upcoming first-person shooter developed by Treyarch and published by Activision. Treyarch has confirmed that the Zombies mode will return for Black Ops II with its own campaign. In addition to this, Treyarch announced plans to integrate Black Ops 2 into the world of "eSports" or competitive gaming. Hard Wired is a Tier Two Perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops II.

In developing Black Ops 2, Treyarch introduced several revisions to the gameplay mechanics for online multiplayer that have been a hallmark of the Call of Duty franchise Lightweight returns as a Tier 1 perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops II. This year the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Perks are more balanced than before, with most of the perks being moved to weapon attachments.

This is the first Call of Duty that Treyarch has produced with a futuristic time setting. Thus most of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Guns are modern and more powerful than in older games. Reports of Black Ops 2 surfaced following a product page for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 appeared Amazon France Wildcards before quickly being taken down in February 2012. This is the second game since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that allows the addition of two attachments with Black Ops 2 Wildcards to handguns in Multiplayer Perks with Create-A-Class.

HNS here, foregoing The Legend of Blah Blah this month to uphold The Desert Colossus's fine tradition of being the last Zelda site to report on Zelda news.  But in case you haven't heard yet, the next Zelda game has been announced for release in 2011.

Zelda Re: Issue Five! - SPECIAL - The Zelda Timeline
[Zelda Re:]
07 May 2010 - by MagmarFire
Well, hehe, it's about time I had another article, isn't it? ^.^; *is trying to avoid KamakaziPlumber's wrath* You can blame my lack of motivation for this, I'm afraid. However, upon a surge of inspiration and that I'm done with my first year of college (whoo-hoo!), I just had to write this.

I'm going to be doing something a little bit differently this time, and since TDC's been in a slump lately, I figure any content would be appreciated, especially if it warrants discussion from all, not just those on the forums (even though more of those would be nice, wink-wink ;) ). No, I'm not doing a review this time (which kinda defeats the purpose of having an "Re:" in the title, huh...? Ah, well. Names that make no sense are cool in their own right, right?). Instead, in case you lazy Web surfers didn't notice, I'm going to be showing my theory of the Zelda timeline.

Intrigued? I didn't think so. Well, just click [Read More] anyway before all the free cookies are gone! ;)

WARNING: There will be spoilers EXCEPT for Spirit Tracks; those of you who are still playing it, do not fret.
The Legend of Blah Blah: The Dekus

04 May 2010 - by hinoseijin
Pardon the break in April.  But I'm back for May, and this month it's time to discuss my least favorite Zelda race, the Dekus.  It's not that I hate them; I just don't find them very impressive.  Maybe I can make them seem marginally more interesting for me while I write this article.  Click on [Read More] to continue.

04 Mar 2010 - by hinoseijin
So you all can appreciate this month’s article, know that I did research for you.  Not just any research.  Research into the reproductive process of fish.  As I said last issue, this one will be about Zoran biology, and there is great potential for squickiness.  Don’t say I didn’t warn you.  To further appreciate this month’s issue, know that the laptop I was typing this one kept on acting like I was typing in commands I wasn’t; paragraphs would start indenting, the Find and Replace feature kept popping up, and once it closed out on me.  Thankfully I had recently saved and didn’t lose much.  Folks, don’t get a Dell.  When you’re ready, click on [Read More] to continue.
The Legend of Blah Blah: The Sheikah

08 Feb 2010 - by hinoseijin
So, I pushed off the Sheikah article to do some fact checking only to find out that, yeah, we know next to nothing about this enigmatic race.  Only two have unarguably been featured in the series, Impa and Sheik from Ocarina of Time, with Impaz from Twilight Princess heavily implied that she is a descendent of the Sheikahs.  Their emblem, the eye and tear, can be seen throughout the series, even before the Sheikah’s official introduction in Ocarina of Time.  Let’s [Read More], shall we?

I like to type these articles up in Microsoft Word first.  And it never ceases to amuse me that MS Word continuously marks commonly used Zelda terms as incorrect spellings.  Sure, I could just create a dictionary for them, or more simply add them to the existing dictionary, but it just seems like too much effort when I can just call MS Word stupid, which is a lot more fun than adding in new words.  But that has nothing to do with this month’s subject, which isn’t the Sheikah as I promised (the Christmas season in addition to the distractions of Spirit Tracks and Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days ruined my desire to do some research, and I want to get an article up early in the month for a change).  Instead, it’ll be about the Minish race, which featured only in The Minish Cap (debatably), so click on [Read More] if you’d like to read my take on that.

Okay, so I put this off for long enough.  Once again, I had expected to have the house to myself for a weekend so I could work on my article without distractions, but once again that was not to be the case.  So once again, I’m using up time I could be using to go out and find a job, but it’s a bit yucky out and I’m waiting to hear back from potential employers anyway.  The article itself may end up being short, as Gorons received a bit more attention in past games than the Kokiris, Gerudos, and Garo.  But there are still aspects we can speculate on, so click on [Read More] to see what I have to say.  Again, this includes some material that isn’t exactly suitable for younger audiences, but it’s approached from a scientific viewpoint and isn’t explicit, so it should be safe for work.  Or school.  Whatever.

I hate computers.  I tried getting into Microsoft Word so I can type up my article as usual, but the computer was being ridiculously slow, to the point where I thought it had frozen up on me.  I blame the foul weather.  I was going to get it written up and posted last week, taking advantage of an empty house to work with minimal distractions, but it wasn’t as empty as I thought, so I’m a bit late in getting it up.  But here it is, so click on [Read More] when you’re ready to read about the Garo.
Spirit Tracks Set For Release in December
[News]
05 Nov 2009 - by hinoseijin
I have no doubt that I am stepping out of bounds here, what with me being the author of The Legend of Blah Blah, but I also have no doubt that KP is rather busy and will appreciate anyone writing up a news article.  And the title says it all.  The Legend of Zelda:  Spirit Tracks is set to be released in December 2009; the 7th for North America, the 11th for Europe, and the 23rd for Japan.  Sorry Australia, I couldn't find a release date for you.  Game Trailers TV aired an exclusive trailer of Spirit Tracks, which can be found on their website.
The Legend of Blah Blah: The Gerudos
[Blogging]
09 Oct 2009 - by hinoseijin
As this is October, I guess I should get something written up.  And today’s topic is another of my favorite races, the Gerudo, found in Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask, and Four Swords Adventures, and mentioned in Twilight Princess.  They are a bit better known than the Kokiri, and I don’t feel like I have to review what all fans know about Gerudos, so I’ll just point out a couple of racial features and offer an explanation for them.  Then I’ll finish up by describing my alternate version of the Gerudos.  Once again, the following is merely speculation, an exercise in thought and creativity.  These are my ideas and not those of The Desert Colossus; you don’t have to accept them.  I also warn you that this article will have some mature discussion in it, but it will not go past PG-13.  So if you’re ready to learn what I think about the Gerudos, then click on [Read More] to continue.

Hello.  I am Hi no Seijin, or HNS for short.  I’m pretty well known on the forums, but not to the Zelda community as a whole, as TDC and Hyrule Adventures 2 are my little hidey holes.  I’ve been meaning to contribute something to the front page for quite a long time now, but have only recently decided on what exactly to talk about.  That subject matter being those open-ended mysteries of the Zelda series, those things with so little evidence behind them that you can make up just about anything to explain them without contradicting established canon.  I’d also like to explore some areas of established canon and provide an alternative fanon for it.  So all in all, The Legend of Blah Blah is an exercise in thought and creativity.  The ideas expressed here on my own and not that of The Desert Colossus.  Read these articles with a grain of salt, and by no means feel that you have to accept my vision of Hyrule.  If you are ready to delve into my mind, then click on [Read More].

Alright, well, due to my extensively long, paid vacation, this article's coming a bit late. However, it's done! And...well, it's not really much of an article so much as an interview, huh? Well, hell, I'll make it both.

Well, as you should all know by now, Gohma died just as summer started, and throughout the summer the battle for the South has been raging. The Crusade has moved handsomely, posts flying everywhere and monsters falling in similar fashion, the epic tale of epic proportions proceeding epicly. Here to speak on that matter is one of HA2's oldest new members, WinterSink.

That's right, all! We recently recorded the first episode of the SandCast, TDC's very own Zelda podcast. I know I've been talking about it a lot (especially on the forums), but here it finally is for your downloading pleasure!

But for now you can use regular old RSS. So just click here to start downloading! (You can listen to it right in your browser if you have Quicktime or anything like that, and it's best heard through headphones at medium volume!)

The next episode should be released early next month, so stay tuned! Oh, and read more for some information regarding this first episode, and possibly a transcript in the next few days!

EDIT:: The transcript is ready! Download it here, or just read it under "Read More"!

So if you've been waiting to join HA2 but you haven't had a good reason, now you do. Just jump in already. We'll help you get started and on your way to being part of the story. If you're interested in RPing, you should look no further.

Meanwhile, we'll be trying to focus more on HA2's goings-on here on the front page, for the sake of creating awareness about this hidden gem of TDC. So keep a look out for those articles! AND GO POST ALREADY.

EDN's Annual Hyrule Trivia!

So I've decided to just go ahead and push the Four Swords article to this month. So that should be up in about a week.

More concerning to you all, though, is the announcement of Exploding Deku Nut's fourth season of Hyrule Trivia! Every summer the folks over at EDN host a trivia game on their forums, where all the great minds of the Zelda community meet to see who knows the most useless - well, mostly useless - and random details about our favorite series. Those of you who think you're something special, why not head over there and prove it?

Also, as last year's winner , I myself am now a proud member of the Hyrule Trivia Sages. Apparently I've been given the title of "General Trivia Master Developer" which, aside from being a mouthful, means that many of the questions will be coming from the mind of yours truly. Think you have what it takes to match wits with me? Then get over to the Forbidden Woods and sign up for HT4!

Round 1 begins June 28th, so you've got a little less than two weeks to join.

Spirit Tracks at E3
[News]
02 Jun 2009 - by Alpha
It may have only gotten a passing reference at the Nintendo conference (and no, there was no Wii Zelda announced. Still, I'm quite pleased with how Nintendo did this year), but Spirit Tracks is still playable at E3. I imagine the major gaming sites will be putting up some footage throughout the week - in fact, IGN has already posted up a new trailer for the game. There isn't much new stuff to see here, but we do get a look at a new item.

Watch the trailer here.

Still not satisfied? Well, we'll edit this post if we see any more videos or screenshots and see if we can change that. I, for one, was already excited about this game, and this new trailer has only made me look forward to it more.

Hey, in my book, Zelda + Indiana = Win.
Coming Soon: E3 and the Next WZMG
[News]
28 May 2009 - by Alpha

Hey all, been a while, eh? First things first, apologies about taking so long with the Four Swords article. A number of items, including but not necessarily limited to a lack of free time and a lack of people giving me stuff to work with (I post those topics in the Forums for a reason, ya know >_>), have led to its delay, but I'm hoping to get that written up shortly.

Second things second! Next week marks the return of our favorite video game conference. E3 will be back in force, and I for one am hoping that Nintendo doesn't have a repeat of last year's hardcore disappointment. We can definitely expect some more information on Spirit Tracks, and rumors are flying about a number of other possibilities – several of which include a Wii Zelda game (though I advise you not to get your hopes too high ).

For those who don't know, Nintendo's keynote address will be happening Tuesday June 2nd at 12pm EST, or 9am PST if you're on the west coast. Adjust your schedule accordingly, people – E3 is coming soon. ^_^

What Makes Zelda Great - The Oracles
[Blogging]
23 Apr 2009 - by Alpha
Released on the exact same day in 2001, Oracle of Seasons and Oracle of Ages really expanded the Zeldaverse by introducing us to two of Hyrule's neighbors: Holodrum and Labrynna. The main focus of these titles was their ability to be linked, via passcodes, so as to access new secrets, gain new items, and even obtain a further developed storyline. And don't forget the standard new characters to fall in love with, new items to master using, and new worlds to explore and re-explore to your heart's content.

What Makes Zelda Great - Link's Awakening
[Blogging]
23 Mar 2009 - by Alpha
Zelda is one of Nintendo's longest and best franchises; with the Gameboy's success in the early 90s, it's no surprise that the series went over to the portable systems too. Link's Awakening was released in 1993, immersing fans in the world of Zelda like never before: gone was the land of Hyrule, the plight of Ganon, and the battles for the Triforce. Instead we were treated to a simple tale of a boy trying to escape from an island . . . only to find ourselves engrossed in a much larger, tragic story just waiting to happen.

What Makes Zelda Great - A Link to the Past
[Blogging]
23 Feb 2009 - by Alpha

With the controversy that surrounded The Adventure of Link, Nintendo took its time in preparing the next Zelda title. When it was finally released on the SNES, A Link to the Past proved worth the wait, returning to the style of The Legend of Zelda and enhancing it in ways that gamers could have scarcely imagined. To this day, over seventeen years after its initial release, ALttP is seen as a classic of the Zelda series that continues to astound gamers.

Hey guys. Yes, I'm still around. No, this isn't an update.

Actually, Wednesdays this semester are NOT good update days for me. I might have to move them to Saturdays or some such day when I have more time to update.

We'll see how things work out but for now, see you Saturdays!

As you can all probably see, we finally have a "new" layout.

... alright, it's just a shinier version of the old one, but, if you've been wondering where I've been, there you go.

... alright, so it only took a few days and I made it over winter break, but, yeah...

Over the next few days (?) I'll be fixing it up (for example, getting the forums updated). And a Caption Game update will get stuck in there somewhere too.

SO. Hope everyone likes it! It's even Jack-approved! Until later!

EDIT:: The site history page has been changed to reflect... the changes. I even put up some info on older stuff that Jack never got in there. Yay wayback machine!
What Makes Zelda Great - The Adventure of Link
[Blogging]
23 Jan 2009 - by Alpha

One year after the massive success that was The Legend of Zelda, Nintendo released a sequel to the game, The Adventure of Link. As many of us gamers know, it was rather different from its predecessor in many regards, leading it to be viewed as the black sheep of the series. Yet there are still Zelda fans that hold AoL in higher esteem than all the other games that followed. Let’s see if we can figure out why, shall we?

What Makes Zelda Great - The Legend of Zelda
[Blogging]
23 Dec 2008 - by Alpha

In 1987 ('86 in Japan), the original The Legend of Zelda burst onto the scene of video games, changing gaming forever. Over twenty years have passed since then, and this game has sparked a fantastic franchise that continues to enthrall gamers to this very day. Thirteen games have been produced since LoZ's release; what is it that still draws players to it?

HA! I made it.

New captions this week, lots of them. Check out the Caption Game to see for yourself.

Oh, and happy Thanksgiving to all American visitors! I'll be busy scheming during the break, so I don't think you should expect any surprise updates. I can't speak for Alpha or anyone else, though.

What Makes Zelda Great
[Blogging]
23 Nov 2008 - by Alpha

As I promised on Friday, I have returned!

The Legend of Zelda is an absolutely amazing series of games, as I'm sure everyone who visits this or other Zelda sites would happily agree to. It's been ten years since I started playing Zelda games myself; I too am one of the people entered the land of legends for the first time while playing Ocarina of Time. So the ten year anniversary certainly holds a special significance for me, as I'm sure it does for many fans of the series.

Ten years later, I find myself here, a member of the Zelda online community, writing countless stories and articles about little details that few people, if anyone at all, would care about. My friends and family members can only shrug and sigh whenever I find someone to discuss the Zelda timeline with, or when someone says they never played The Wind Waker because of the graphics (I don't think anyone online has ever seen me as angry as I can get during one of those conversations).

But after all that time, they've also managed to figure out the question to ask in order to get me to shut up. Because this is the Zelda question that I've never been able to answer:

"So Alpha . . . which of the games is your favorite?"

Ten Years Later

Today is a rather amazing day for gamers, especially those of us who call ourselves Legend of Zelda fanatics. Although the Zelda series was undoubtedly already one of the most influential series, on November 21, 1998 arguably the greatest installment was released in Japan, going on to be renown as one of, if not the, best video games ever created. That's right, today is the ten year anniversary of the release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.

Oh, also, check out the forums for the official topic regarding the TDC SandCast. Don't know what that is? Read about it here. We need cast members!

That's that for this week. Until the next one!
Awkward Update

13 Nov 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
For more reasons than one.

First off: sorry for the mega delay. I only meant to skip one week for lack of Caption Game submissions, and ended up skipping two. My apologies!

Second: I don't have access to the FTP right now, so I can't actually update anything. Terrible, I know. I have new Ezlo for you guys this week and everything.

Well, I'll post Ezlo up after the jump here on the main page until the problem gets solved. Caption Game will have to wait I guess.

EDIT:: A big thanks to Jack, who fixed things! Yay Jack! Ezlo and Caption Game have been updated accordingly. Oh, and I've chosen the winners for last month's Caption Game! New one next week.
Until next week?
Sigh. Late again.

25 Oct 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Sorry folks, another late update this week. Technically, it's early in relation to the last one.

Anyways, Caption Game has been updated again. Two more weeks and it's closed!

Also, I've been hearing some stuff regarding the Zelda series lately - particularly, this:

"Shigeru Miyamoto, in an interview in San Francisco done with various media outlets like GamePro, '...noted that while Pikmin's Lead Designer worked on Wii Music much like Zelda's top talent took on Wii Fit, both developers are now back to working on their classic franchises.'"
 (Source: The Hylia)

At least it's something, eh? Let's all just hope that this means we'll have some news soon. Probably not, but one can dream, no?

Until next update! I'll try to make it on Wednesday next time...

Almost held this off for the week, but, figure an update is better late than never.

This week: Caption Game has been updated! Also, I just realized that I missed the cutoff date for this month's game. Might as well leave it until the end of October now.

And, for those of you craving some Zelda news... well, there still isn't any REAL news, but, this nice, long article surfaced on IGN regarding our favorite series. I haven't actually had time to read it yet, but, looks interesting at least. Give it a read.

Until next week!

Hey everyone!

Another update today. First, the August Caption Game has been concluded, as promised. Check for the winner! New one will be up next week, of course.

Also, we've got a new affiliate! Actually, it's more than that. Zelda Portal is a relatively new site dedicated to highlighting sites from the community and reviewing them. I've been watching it for a while, and they've finally given us a shout-out in their latest Site of the Week installment. A review should be coming soon, can't wait for that! For now, we've affiliated with them. Check it out when you get a chance. Until next week!

Hehe, that rhymes, don't it?

Yep, it's that time of month again, it seems! Zelda Re: is back for another update! A friend of mine actually gave me this dungeon request a few weeks back, and I wished to honor his request. Besides, there's quite a bit to say about this particular dungeon, so it does make it a bit easier on me.

Now, come on in. Let's see what the Zelda series has in store for us today!

OK, another quick update this week. First off, three new captions have been added. Tune in next week for the thrilling conclusion of this month's Caption Game!

Next, we have a new story from MagmarFire in the Library: The War of Majora, sequel to his Master Sword Chronicles series. Read it! And chapter 11 of his MSC series has been fixed. Great time to read all those too!

Finally, no Ezlo this week. We'll see what happens next time. Until then!

And FINALLY we get another Ezlo! As promised, the old ones have been archived. New ones are on the page, go read them!

That's all for now, anyways. See you next week!

Alright, sorry it's a day late, but... eh, there's not much here today, anyways. Only update today is the Caption Game, which has a few submissions to start it off this week. Ezlo is apparently too busy to send us some answers, so, I guess we'll see what we get next week. Uh...

Well, while I'm here, I might as well plug HA2 a bit. Remember to join if you're into forum RPGs, it's been moving along quite nicely lately. The Tournament will enter its final round this weekend (of which I am a part, woo!), Alpha's FoG series has had its most important post posted recently, the South is ever-closer to opening, etc. There's really a lot going on, so get in on it already! We can always use more RPers!

Ah, well, I suppose that's all for this week. Until next time!

All right, guys! Looks like it’s time for another issue of Zelda Re:! We should probably keep you entertained after that rather disappointing performance that Nintendo had at E3. Granted, it wasn’t all bad (at least for me; Wii Sports Resort, Wii Music, and Animal Crossing: City Folk look great), but still…no Zelda? C’mon…

Ahem… Now come on in and enjoy before I continue to remind you where you had your pitchfork last…

06 Aug 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Alright, it's that time of the week again! And let me tell you, this is one good update.

First up, new Caption Game! If you didn't see it last week, the winners for the old one are up in the archives. And, August's Caption Game is currently up, so get sending! I'll try to make sure this one only lasts one month.

But who cares about that?! The big news is: NEW EZLO!

Yes. New Ezlo. Ezlo has finally sent in the next batch of submissions, so go read them right now. Still haven't archive the page, so, all the new submissions are above the break. Next week, a fresh page. Stay tuned!

Meanwhile, I've got the new banner up across the site, not to mention some nifty upgrades: now, if you don't have Flash installed, you'll get a version of the old banner instead. And, if your computer slows down at all because of this new banner, I've added a Pause button that should solve your problems. So, yeah, if anyone still has problems, be sure to contact me, eh?

Well, that's all for my update this week. Stay tuned for some articles, as I know for a fact that we'll have new ones in the coming days. Until next week!

Okay, here are some reviews for fan fictions I've read. Hope you agree and end up reading some of them. More to come.
Introduction
[Nogare's Curiosities and Questions]
30 Jul 2008 - by Nogare
Hi. Nogare here. I prefer being called Jim (from Majora's Mask... Personal joke), and the long name being Jim the James. I don't really want to go into too much stuff about stuff people already know about me, so... I'll just leave it at that.

So, here I am. If you've got things to propose, I'd be glad to have 'em emailed to me, and I'll post my theories about the concept, and if one comes to my attention, I'll be sure to put them up, and hopefully if my CPU is in a good mood, I could put some pictures in to support it.
Pretty Big Update
[Updates]
30 Jul 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Alright, so, I'm back again with an update. Ezlo, unfortunately, is not. Maybe soon. Stupid Minish...

The point is, we do have the final batch of Caption Game submissions and, good news everyone, I salvaged all the messages I thought were lost! So we have about thirty submissions. And, our winners, I suppose. The winners won't be up right away, since I have to go through all these new ones still, but, look for them later today!

In other news, TDC has a new banner! It's Flash-tastic! See if you can find all the secrets. Oh, and, if you have any problems with the banner (slow loading times, etc.) PLEASE drop me a line. You can email me via the Contact Us page. It's important that you do, for the sake of the other visitors! Plus, I can probably fix it. Anyways, this banner will slowly be inserted throughout the site, but for now it's only on the index page and the Forum page.

Oh, and, a bit of technical news, TDC's Forums have been updated! Now's as good a time as ever to join our little community, here, so do it! You won't be sorry.

Nothing else this week, unfortunately. Stick around for an Ezlo update soon... hopefully. Until then!

EDIT:: Winners are up!
Day-Late Update...

24 Jul 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Well, I tried holding off a bit to finally get an Ezlo update in, but, he has yet to send in his next batch of answers.  So instead, make due with a handful of Caption Game submissions, and a Library update!

Caption Game submission counts have been thinning these past few weeks, so I have a feeling next week will see the end of this Contest. One last chance to send in a winning caption, pals. Get on it!

And, MagmarFire has submitted the next (and, apparently, final) chapter of The Master Sword Chronicles, along with a re-write of his first chapter. So, check those out here. They're good stuff, they are. I expect to see the next book submitted as well, Magmar!

Well, that's all for this week. Let's hope Ezlo gets his act together soon. Until next time!

Hey all, ZV here with another bit of news! TDC's long time affiliate Legends and Adventure is holding their Summer 2008 Zelda Writing Contest! The contest is to see who can type up the best Legend of Zelda themed Fan Fiction. It also includes prizes for the winners of the contest, and they are as follows:
  • First Prize: $60 Amazon voucher
  • Second Prize: $30 Amazon voucher
  • Third Prize: $10 Amazon voucher
All submissions are to be sent to contest@legendofzeldaseries.com and will be judged by Huanir, The Missing Link, and EA. Get out there, go for the gold, and have fun.
Not to mention an Update!
[Updates]
16 Jul 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
You, the reader, are being spoiled. Like, ten main page posting in a matter of days? Remember the time when there would barely be a weekly update? Those were the days...

Well, no, they weren't, and that's why about a week ago I set out to look for staff members. And here they are! Tacheon, Magmar, Jackal, ZV, and Dragmire have all agreed to help out as staff members. And, while this week was probably a fluke (E3, anyone?), hopefully we'll see frequent updates from them all! Not to mention upcoming staff members, like theorist Jim (known as Nogare by some), who will have his own column, and, perhaps... you? Yes, sign-ups are still available, so if you think you have something to add, check the forums for the Help Wanted topic! Or email me.

Which brings me to the first update of mine: I've changed the Contact page to feature my email instead. Forgot to do that earlier. My bad, fixed now. You can also contact me through forum PM, of course.

Now to more regular updates: the Caption Game has some new submissions, and the competition is still on, so be sure to send in a caption if you haven't already. We could always use more!

Ezlo, unfortunately, has not sent me his newest answers yet (argh!), so, I decided to hold up my end of the bargain and update without him. Let's hope he'll send some soon, eh?

More fan art from FireAmy is up at the museum, so, check that out too. Some good stuff, there. And, as mentioned last week, I've updated the Beastiary to include some more... beasts. Check the B, G, M, and R pages for the newest additions.

That's all, it would seem. Until next week!
Nintendo's E3 Press Conference
[News]
15 Jul 2008 - by ZeldaVeteran
Well, Nintendo’s press conference at E3 is over, and I think I speak for all the core gamers that it was a bit of a disappointment. Not only did they show us dozens of bar-charts that show us how well they’re doing with the DS, but they shows us some of the games they’ll be releasing for it.

You heard it here first:  Valley of the Deluge IS A FAKE.  I hate to say I told you so, but... I told you so.  There were so many signs pointing to it being a fake (read my previous article for more of my completely biased opinions), but for some reason I, along with the most of the rest of the Zelda community, sincerely wished that it would be an honest-to-god leak.  However, it was not to be.

But stay strong, Zelda fans.  While the (Asiatic) man can crush our hopes for a near-future Zelda game, that doesn't mean that Nintendo isn't reading our every response, trying to see if this is an awesome idea or not-- which, of course, it is (cough cough hint hint Miyamoto)

However, for all of you who have a life outside of Zelda, you can always play Grand Theft Auto for the DS... <_<

Pre-E3 Thoughts
[News]
13 Jul 2008 - by Alpha

Huh . . . busy day for TDC, wouldn't ya say? Five posts in one 24-hour period, all done by different people . . . that's gotta be some kinda record being broken there . . .

Anyway, to the relief of many of you (and, knowing my luck, the rage of others), I am happy to announce that I, Alpha, am still alive and kicking. WOOT!

So, yeah, I was just getting ready to post this when I got online and saw that ZV has posted up some pre-E3 information as well. But as I'm planning on talking about more than just Valley of the Flood, I'll still be posting this. Edit: And oh look! Tacheon's posted about the same thing now too! Here's hoping I won't be too terribly repetitive . . .

At any rate, as we’re all no doubt aware, E3 will be beginning in the morning with a round of Xbox news, and then on Tuesday we'll actually get something worth hearing about. Quite a few rumors are stating that one of these worthwhile tidbits will be the announcement of the next Zelda game, and I thought it might be nice to try and figure out what they might be talking about. Shall we?

Valley of the Farce
[News]
13 Jul 2008 - by Tacheonblack
The supposedly upcoming Zelda title known as "Valley of the Flood" would be, from an economical standpoint, a terrible move on Nintendo's part.  Video games are a money-making franchise first, and a source for entertainment second.  No matter how excited Shigeru Miyamoto seems, it's not because the game is going to be fun, it's because it's going to pay for his third private island.  Because of this, any given video game in a series is not only supposed to intice the veteran players of that series, but it must hold a certain appeal to those interested in the series, but who have never played one of the games.
Valley of the Flood and E3?
[News]
13 Jul 2008 - by ZeldaVeteran
The Legend of Zelda: Valley of the Flood- Despite the thick cloud of skepticism around the community, those have been the words on every Zelda gamer’s mind ever since a debatably real interview leaked from 4chan. In this interview, Eiji Aonuma answered a few questions asked by “Kyle” and it concerns the next Zelda title. This is all rumor for now- but the entire interview can be read here.

In a nutshell, Zelda has taken an industrial leap, and is threatened by an impending flood. The protagonist this time around isn’t Link, but rather a boy who believes he’s the reincarnation of the hero told in legends! A twist many gamers might be uncomfortable with. Still, it sounds very different, interesting, and provides a look into what direction Zelda could take. In the interview, (the supposed) Aonuma stated that more about the game would be unveiled at E3.

With E3 rolling around the corner, we won’t have long to wait! E3 begins on Monday, July 14th at 1:00PM. The Schedule is as follows:

Zelda Re: Issue One!
[Zelda Re:]
13 Jul 2008 - by MagmarFire
*slowly approaches microphone*

Uh, hello, TDC. MagmarFire here. KamakaziPlumber has allowed me to be able to post my review column, Zelda Re:, where I will be going over many of the things of the Zelda series. Like a commentary of sorts. You know, just to see how it is from "the weird one's" point of view. Mostly it's going to be about dungeons, yes...but I can gladly take some requests if you guys (the readers) want my two cents on it and whatever two cents I manage to pick out of another person's pocket.

...Okay, none of you heard that... But anyway, here we go! The first issue of Zelda Re:! Come on in, kick back, grab a bowl of tortilla chips, and enjoy!

And in case you're wondering, "Re:" is supposed to be like a shortened "review"; I just put the colon in there for good measure. You know, like word make-up. ...Wow, misusing the English language is more fun than I thought!
Majora's Mask will have to wait
[News]
12 Jul 2008 - by Dragmire
Unfortunately, Nintendo really likes to make Zelda fans wait for great games. There are no plans, as of yet, to release Majora's Mask on virtual console. No reason to fret, it's highly unlikely that the game won't be released, seeing as how Ocarina was one of the first games for the VC.

In other Zelda news, Nintendo has said in a Club Nintendo article (Mexican equivalent of Nintendo Power) that they are planning Metroid, Zelda, and Mario
adaptations for the silver screen, in that order. While I'm not excited about Zelda being second, these movies should be great.

Well that's all for now, folks, I'll keep you filled in!

(PS: Hey guys, many of you know me already, but I just wanted to let you know me and a couple other fella's are going to be doing news and stuff here on the front page, so you'll be seeing me here quite often)
Outrageously Large Update
[Updates]
09 Jul 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
For me, anyways...

Let's start with the basics: Finally, new Ezlo AND Caption Game submissions! Go check them out. The current Caption Game will stay up for a week (or two?) more, let's see if we can get some more entries, eh? And of course, Ezlo has made a comeback with about twenty new answers. There's even a poem!

On to more unusual updates: we've got some fan submissions! Looks like last week's announcement worked. In the Library, we have the thirteenth installment of The Master Sword Chronicles by MagmarFire (of the forums) up, give it a read as it's quality stuff. Next we have a good ten artworks from FireAmy in the Museum. Also great stuff, you'd be remiss to ignore them.

In failed updates: I was going to make a few additions to the Bestiary today but I just realized I don't have access to it. wink I'll see about getting that soon, and will probably have those in next update. Until then!

P.S. I'm currently on the lookout for new staff members! If you're interested in reporting news, commenting on news, or doing something else for TDC, visit the forums! There's a "Help Wanted!" topic in General Discussion with all the info you need. And join the forums while you're at it. smile See you there!
Slightly Late Update!
[Updates]
25 Jun 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Alright, Ezlo was a tiny bit late with his answers, but we've finally got another update here!

Of course, you can check these new answers over at the Ask Ezlo page. Last update's are there, too, just check under the divider I inserted. Yay!

Oh, and let's not forget the Caption Game! It no longer works!!! wassat Which is to say, it didn't work... until today. I figured out that the email method was messed up when I didn't get any submissions at all... not even my test ones. It's fixed now, though, so PLEASE, FOR GODDESSES' SAKE, IF YOU SUBMITTED ANYTHING SINCE THE LAST UPDATE, RE-SUBMIT IT! I've made this clear on the forums already. Please do? Thanks! tongue

And, while we're on the topic of email failures, if you submitted any content (fan fiction, pictures, etc.) since... well, since ever pretty much, and didn't get it put up, feel free to re-send it to the correct email address: kamakaziplumber [at] gmail [dot] com

Do it, and I'll see about putting it up! But keep in mind, I'll hold the same standards as Jack did back in the day, so, make 'em good ones! smile I know they will be!

Until next update!
Update! All together now: O. M. G.

10 Jun 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Yes, I've finally entered summer vacation, which means after a long stint of non-updating, I'm able to begin non-non-updating! smile

First off, new Ezlo! You can find it at the usual Ezlo page. Our lazy, lazy Minish friend has finally got up off his microscopic butt to get some work in: here's hoping he's here to stay! Only about twenty responses up right now, but, he's told me there's enough in the inbox to go around. Still, continue to send in your questions, because they might just be answered!

Also, the Caption Game has FINALLY been updated! You can see the winners in the archives (yes, winners, there are two. Just because it's "The Best of the Bunch" doesn't mean it has to be one)! This month's(?) picture has been submitted by Saber (aka Awesome Ninja), so his response is the first up. Get your submissions in and updates will soon follow! tongue

Oh, and let's not forget: HA2 turns another year older this Saturday! You veterans know what to do! smile The rest of you might want to pass by sometime!

Anyways, that's all for today's update. Just a heads up, I will not be around next week. Vacation, and all. But when I get back, you can be sure updates will follow.

Until then!
New Ezlo!

06 Apr 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
I told you I'd manage another update this week! tongue

Anyway, Ezlo sent me about 20 more responses for today, so they're up. I took the liberty of adding these new responses to the same page as the last were on, so they're the ones no top. I might just add a divider to make it easier later. But, for now, enjoy! smile

And don't forget to send your own questions to Ezlo, he's been running a bit short, so we might have to wait for more to pile up until the next update. It's up to you guys, have at it!

EDIT:: Almost forgot something! angry I was told to make an announcement regarding HA2. The Gohma event has picked up a lot recently, so we're looking for people to be participating in that. Plenty of other topics are popping up and running smoothly all over HA2 (like Alpha's famous FoGs), so be sure to check it out! We need more RPers! Join us! Join us!
April Fools!
[News]
02 Apr 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Alright, so, yes, it was all an April Fools joke. TDC is not LoZ.com, and never has been, except for yesterday, when it was, but that was April Fool's Day, so it wasn't.

It was part of a (kinda) mass April Fools joke between TDC, EDN and LoZ.com, mastermind...ed by the one and only Darth Citrus. We all impersonated each other's sites, in some way shape or form. Darth will have one of his classic write-ups on EDN later I'm sure, but if you want to see the front page from yesterday, just go here. Mind you, that's only the front page - the joke itself spanned most of the content pages, sans the gallery and forums.

By the way, yesterday's update itself was real, so, everything updated still stands. Yes, Ezlo is back, and yes, I did make that Flash game. I even think I'll get a third update in this week! smile So, until then, keep visiting LoZ.com TDC!
Another update in the SAME week!
[Updates]
01 Apr 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Yes, you read right! A second update, this time with a few surprises.

Surprise #1: EZLO HAS UPDATED! tongue

If I had a nickel for every time that was said, I’d have half a nickel! Yes, the tiny Minish man you've all come to know and love sent me a good 40 responses for me to post today. And they'll keep coming, I assure you! Perhaps next time he’ll bring a fairy……in a bottle! Hahahaha! smile

Now, I know. There are no cheap victories for your gold medals. Right? Well, how's this for a victory? I created a nice 404 page for TDC! It even features a nice Leever gif I found online. Leever?! I hardly even know her!

And, AND, I've uploaded a Flash game I made long ago, based on OoT's shooting gallery. You can find that here. The scoreboard doesn't work as of yet, but have fun with it anyways! And by all means, report any errors you find! angry

By the by, I heard that LegendOfZelda.Com was going to have another classic April Fool's joke today. Check it out while you still can! I'm on my way there now! Also, Exploding Deku Nut seems to have a little something going on, too. I'll be visiting, and so should you!

So I hope that should tide you all over for another while! I'll try to be back soon, but until then keep visiting here at TDC!
Woah.

Caption Game has been updated, finally. The threatening emails can end, now!* Thank you very much.

Ezlo is still being a lazy bum. I don't know what I'm going to do with him! As it is I can't find him, but, he is a Minish. They're good hiders, you know. Anyways, I'll deal with him when he turns up.

Caption Game will remain as is for another week or so, whereupon I will announce a winner and finally start a new one. This extra week is just out of fairness to anyone who might not have sent in a submissions for fear that it would never get put up. It will, I swear it!

For now I'm signing off, but let's hope I'll be back soon! smile

*Actually, there were no threatening emails. Though I sure deserved some. Thanks for the patience, everyone! tongue

23 Jan 2008 - by kamakaziplumber
Fun Fact: For the past few weeks I've had absolutely no control over the site. No FTP access at all. Not to mention, the domain wasn't even connecting with the server correctly. Or something.

Funner Fact: Jack came to the rescue, so now I have it back again! It's a good thing there's support tickets. wassat

Anyways, I've started by updating the caption game! Really it's the same picture, except now the emails will work. smile Also, Ezlo will begin to update regularly again. I'm sure he'll do a few extra to make up for lost time, eh?

Until next update!

Ezlo has finally been updated! On the MAIN Ezlo page! We're talking official Ezloing here, people. Go check it out, right now. Go.

Go!

Anyways, we've changed the format a bit here... as opposed to somewhat monthly updates with a large amount of responses, Ezlo has agreed to update weekly with ten or so responses at a time. That means, more Ezlo! Yay! Or more frequently, at least. wassat Now, go read!
Ezlo?? Back?!?

Yes, Ask Ezlo is back! Ezlo (as seen in the forums, you can find some recent questions and answers there) has returned and been set up to receive your messages from the traditional Ask Ezlo page, which you can find here.

I've reasoned with the old Minish and he's agreed to answer about ten questions a week, provided he gets that many. tongue So start sending in your questions today!

A glimpse at Zelda '08?
[News]
24 Nov 2007 - by kamakaziplumber
So, http://zelda2008.com/

What is it? What does it say? Let's spend hours translating it!

Or... we can read this: "Experience the Challenge of Endless Adventure".

Yes, I translated it already (apparently I'm the first one to do so? Maybe not, but I didn't want to spend time searching all over the internets and decided to take matters into my own hands), and that's what it says, based on Kasuto's alphabet. What does it mean? Is it legit?

Well, I personally don't know, eh? Maybe it's a hint at a real Zelda Online, or some kind of massive RPG version of Zelda? Whatever it is, looks interesting, no?

Want to discuss it? There's a thread over at the Forums where I posted with the same info, check that out eh? Maybe there'll be a discussion. I hope so! smile Here's a direct link.

Thanks to Ikanian for pointing this out to me!

In case you haven't already guessed it, we'll be extending the deadline for that character contest. Probably another month, so look for the results on December 11! And let's try to get s'more contestants, eh? wassat We may have already lost the ones we had as it is. In fact, if you see this and you're already in the contest, might want to drop a comment. It'll be fine if you don't though.

Oh, and major HA2 news! Well, late still, but... yeah. I was hoping Alpha would be the one announcing this but, meh, I'll do it: THE GOHMA FIGHT IS ON!!! Or, has been for a while now. If you just realized it now and want to join in go ahead, we're in kind of a lull right this moment so it's perfect for newcomers. Come and join the fun tongue!

EDIT: I almost forgot, I now have a "Talk to KamakaziPlumber" topic in the normal forums, so you can ask me stuff there. Go at it!
Major HA2 Breakthrough! Read now today!
[Housekeeping]
20 Oct 2007 - by kamakaziplumber
Alright, for all you people who take part in HA2 (hopefully to grow in number soon, see news post below this one), we've got a major breakthrough for you...

Yes, the Gohma topic sign-ups are now... available! tongue

What does that mean? It means the long-awaited South Hyrule addition to the map is right around the corner, close enough that we feel it's time to get the Gohma event started so we can finally get down there, eh?

This has been a major team effort by Alpha, the RGs and us mods over at HA2, and it really shows. So if you're part of HA2 you'll want to go look up that topic! Sign-up is in Ruto Town and there's an announcement from the King on the main page. Go go go! smile

P.S. If you aren't a member of HA2 but this sounds like something you want to be a part of, see the post below this one for our new member character contest! We need more contestants, people! tongue
HA2 Character Competition!
[Housekeeping]
11 Oct 2007 - by kamakaziplumber
To celebrate the ever-approaching opening of South Hyrule, HA2 is happy to announce that we'll be holding a contest for new members! Interested in joining our humble RPG? Well, for a limited time only, join and participate in a few topics to get yourself a chance to win an extra TP (something I know I'd like to have right about now . . .)!

This topic will only be available to newcomers, so those of you who think you can make an extra TP off an easy topic be warned: the TP will be nontransferable and we're not above checking IPs if we think something's up. Besides, this is to attract new members, not more of the same members! tongue

Newcomers will be judged by a panel of highly respectable members of our fair RPG (namely . . . the admins and moderators . . . ) on how well they set up a profile for their characters, as well as their role-playing abilities in several topics we'll have set up specifically for this contest. Strive to impress us with your power in battle, your wisdom in understanding the Rules Set and profile setup, and your courage in . . . well, joining in the first place, and you may find yourself having a leg up on the other newcomers by winning a shiny new Talent Point, redeemable for a number of impressive and necessary abilities!

Want to sign up? Head on over to the Forums (link at the top of the page) and check in the Hyrule Adventures section for the sign-up topic. Be sure to include the username you plan to use when you sign up for HA2. There will be further instructions at the forum topic, so be sure to read the first post!

Alright, so the contest starts... now! Go!

(I'm serious, it starts today. And it will end November 11, a month from now. Approximately anyways, but we definitely won't accept entries after then.)

Hi folks!

I hope everyone is doing well and staying out of trouble. I wanted to drop by and give the official announcement that TDC will indeed live on with the help of KamikaziPlumber, who has graciously accepted my pleas and beggings to take over this site. He'll be in charge of the web-side of this site: Ask Ezlo, Caption Game, Game Guides, and more. So, TDC is definitely not dead, and awesomely has been given a second life.

Congratulations, KP!

TML's Zelda Puzzle Challenge ends.
[Guest Commentary]
06 Aug 2007 - by kamakaziplumber
A few days ago TML's recent Puzzle Challenge ended with three winners, perhaps a bit sooner than expected. I myself was close to winning, but alas wassat. Anyways, I don't think any of the people who won are from TDC, but if one of you reading this did win, comment!

As for the Puzzle Challenge, it had its ups and downs. I myself enjoyed the main puzzles but found the final puzzle more frustrating than difficult, and a bit too similar in rules to the other, supposedly easier puzzles that were actually less important. TML is looking for feedback so, if you took part and haven't yet, tell him what you thought. It already seems that he's thinking to have another Puzzle Challenge sometime, with plenty of changes and improvements based on feedback and his own experiences.

Will I be there for the next one? Probably. And you should be too! smile

Well, it certainly is a nice surprise to come back from vacation to find that the mainpage has new posts on it. Good work, KP; I must say that I really find your rejoining us - temporarily or permanently, depending on how Mabe Village works out - and posting again to be a good idea.

And what do people do when they spot good ideas? Why, they copy them, of course!

. . .

And no, I'm not British. Besides, do the Brits even use that phrase anymore? 'Smashing good ____' and all that pizazz? Seriously! Does anyone still speak like that? . . .

. . . just click the 'Read More' button already . . . I'm running out of stuff to say here . . .
"First [and possibly] Annual Zelda Puzzle Challenge", proclaims TML!
[Guest Commentary]
23 Jul 2007 - by kamakaziplumber
That's right, The Missing Link of past webmaster fame at such sites as ZeldaBlog and The Grand Adventures is blessing us Zelda fans with a new project, the Zelda Puzzle Challenge.

Sponsored and created by TML, this is a test of wits akin to Exploding Deku Nut's trivia challenge a few months ago, but much more in-depth. The challenge can be found at http://puzzle.zeldablog.com, and is a fully-loaded, fully-coded, brain-wracking, puzzle-packing, finger-twichin', clue-pitchin', down-home-Zelda-community style event of mass proportions and expectations. So join up soon 'cause the fun starts August first (that's in nine days, folks), and registrations are already open. I've already registered!

Rules and explanations can be found all over the site itself (http://puzzle.zeldablog.com), but here's a short synopsis of my own:

01 Jun 2007 - by Jack
I have been putting off writing this post for the longest time, if only because doing so would admit that it was really over. And, by it, I mean my continued labor unto this website.

I am not departing specifically because I want to, more because I have to. I have a career now, and I am currently devoting all my efforts to it. It's sad to say, but I'm simply at the point in my life when I don't have the free time to indulge in such delights as publishing a website about a video games, and that I must now turn my eyes and efforts towards my future. In addition to my 9-5 job, I'm doing some freelance writing for local publications, and I've also started a new project on the web—a political blog. If libertarianism is your political cup of tea, please feel free to join me there as I begin that new enterprise.

I'm deeply sorry for keeping you all in the dark concerning this news, as while I made up my mind about this weeks ago, I've strung you all along until now. It's not fair, and I am pained that I subjected you all to this.

And yes, I know this violates my guarantee to always keep the site open, though, I can promise this site won't close. Though I may depart TDC, the site will remain.

What finally brought me to putting aside my lip-biting and write this post was a phone call I received today on my cell-phone... the second one thus far actually. To who called me, I want to quickly apologize for being so terse with you—I was at work helping set up a conference we're putting on this weekend and couldn't talk on the phone. Anyway, this second call finally convinced me I need to put some closure on this matter.

That said, please don't call my cell phone anymore (haha), it's really disarming hearing from people on the Internets, and more so hearing the name of this site spoken by anyone. I've always tried to keep my life here and real life separate, mostly due to fears of stalking or the like, so of course I, like many in similar circumstances, adopted a pseudonym. That right: Jack O'Reily is not my real name, more a nom du plume, a pen name. I'm not going to apologize for the necessity of my trickery, because it was... well, necessary.

So anyway, I'd like to leave this post on a positive note... so, let me start by thanking everyone who visisted and contributed to this site over the years. Among those who come to mind: Alpha, Zelda Veteran, Bgrugby, Gamefreak, Whocares, Hinoseijin, Jario, everyone at the Forums, HA2, and elsewhere on the site who I cannot (to my great shame) currently recall the names of, if only because there are so many of you. You have all made this site a very enjoyable enterprise. Moreover, I'd like to thank my fellow Webmasters for their support and kind words over the years.

Even though this post may make you think otherwise, you all mean the world to me, and I will miss you dearly.
Since I am in the midst of my travels...

    I must bid you farewell.

Whenever there is a meeting, a parting is sure to follow.

However, that parting need not last forever...

Whether a parting be forever or merely for a short time... That is up to you.

    With that, please excuse me...
