Case in point, many, many Zelda players out there have never in their lives played either The Legend of Zelda or The Legend of Zelda: The Adventure of Link. In fact, many have never played any game before The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It's sad, I know, but it's true. So why would Nintendo make a game that leaves the player not only facing an imminent apocalypse of sorts, but also playing as a character that's not the main character of the series?
