The Minish Cap Walkthroughs
Chapter 11, Palace of Winds
Head up and left and make your way left by avoiding Peahats and hitting the Crystal switches. At the far left, push the middle block up and then the left one left. Hit the switch and continue up. Now, use the bow to hit the switch across the gap and cross the new bridge. Kill the Stalfos so it can’t get in your way. Now, go back across the bridge and smash the skulls and use the split tiles underneath. Cross the bridge in three-split form and push the big block up. Now move up to the next screen.
From here jump on the moving platform and finesse your way past the floating mines and blocks to reach the way left on the top. In the next screen, dispatch the Stalfos and go up the stairs onto the grated floor. Watch out for the fire trails and bomb-ombs and head left again to the next screen.
Here, shoot the Crystal switch on the bottom of the screen and cross the newly-appeared bridge. Avoiding the roller, drop a bomb next to the switch you just shot and run left across the bridge while it remains. This will make the bridge north of where you are now materialize. Now run up across that bridge and get ready for a tough fight.
Here, two Wizrobes appear. No problem. Defeat them and four appear. No problem. Defeat them, and eight appear! A lot harder. Once you prevail, a big chest will appear with the Roc’s Cape inside. Use the cape to just rightward across the gap. Then use the cape to jump vertically up all the clouds above you to the next screen.
Head left past the enemies and over the floating mines to the next screen. Here push the top three left blocks up as you can and the rightmost one to the right. Now, use the bottom three split tiles to split and slip through the blocks. Position yourselves between the four switches and slash them with your sword. Two charger turtles will appear. Use the old shield and sword technique to defeat them and the way right opens.
In this next area, make your way up, right, and down while avoiding being knocked off by the fans. Use the holes for cover if need be. At the bottom of the right pathway use the Cane of Pacci on the hole in front of the fan and then jump ahead before it blows you away. Head left to the next screen.
Here Enzo observes you can jump on the grates to spin them. Do so, head left and kill the Like-Like that appears among the rupees. When it’s safe, jump through the grate up to the walkway, walk left, and then when the moving platform passes below you jump down to it. Ride the moving platform to the ledge and jump up the vertical clouds to the next screen.
Head left and use the split tiles to go threesies and get on the moving platform. To save time, you might want to wait until the moving platform is just approaching before stepping on the third tiles and finishing the split. Stand on the right edge of the platform and you’ll be safe for most of the ride. Disembark on terra firma (er, firm land) and (whiles till preserving that you’re split) go up the stairs and push the big block. If done right you’ll have just enough time to do this all.
Now head, down to the wall of blocks. You can push the right three blocks down into the abyss. Now, a tricky part: get on the moving platforms and leap back and forth between the two until you reach safe ground. This isn’t too hard, s long as you avoid the crows, and don’t try to kill them. Anyways, jump up to the grated platform and then head right.
Jump down when the platform passes under you and continue to the right, jumping up the moving platform and back down as you need to. When you can go right to the next screen. Here, go up and jump in a hole, and let the roller pass over you, then go into the rightmost hole, when its safe, use the Cane of Pacci on the rightmost hole and leap up to the ledge. Head right.
Here split using the top left, bottom left, and bottom right tiles. You’ll make a shrink portal appear. Once shrunken head down the path and push the pots out of the way so you can get to the hole in the wall on the left. Plan your move carefully, because if you mess up you need to backtrack to the last screen to reset the pots. Not fun.
Once you’re through the hole in the wall, head up to the roller and go through the hole in the north wall. In the next room go up to the shrink portal and grow up. Head back to where the hole in the wall was and use the boomerang or a bomb to hit the crystal switch, which will make a small key appear and the door on the right wall open. Head right and jump the gap back to where the first shrink portal was. Backtrack to the roller and go through the locked door.
Now, jump up through the vertical clouds to the next screen. Here, kill the two Moblins and head left. Cross the bridge while avoiding being blown off by the fans. At the other side head left and down to the blocks. Push the blocks (top center to the left, middle right to the right) so you can head down.
Head right, jumping across the spikes and avoiding the Blue ChuChus and go down the stairs. Here use the Cape with the fan to launch yourself allll the way to the left. Go up to the next screen. Here, jump your way past the Lakitus to the next screen. Do not try to kill them, because you’ll end up fall through the cracked floor tiles.
Further ahead, jump up the vertical clouds and from the very top jump and hold the button the Roc’s Cape is equipped to to cross the gap. On the platform jump across the gap on your right, then climb the vertical clouds and jump to the right from the top. Climb the vertical clouds you reach at the end of the screen to continue to the next one.
When you reach firm ground, jump off the cloud and avoid the top two skulls, which are Stalfos in disguise. Head down to the next screen for a very tough fight. Here you face the Ball and Chain troopers. The trick to these two is to either shoot them in the back with an arrow, or coax them into throwing their ball at you, and run up and smack them around while they are temporarily disarmed.
When the two fall, you’ll get 50 Rupees for each an a small key. Head left through the locked door. In the next room, kill the two Stalfos and continue leftward. In the next room, kill the one Stalfos and then push a pot on one of the buttons, then use the split tiles to step on the other three. The door to the left will open, so you can continue to the left.
In the next room, hit the button on the left side of the fan, and then use the Cape (hold the button) with the fan to reach the end of the long gap. When you land, two Moblins and two Ice Wizrobes will appear. Dispatch them (just walk into the Wizrobes with your lamp on to kill those in one hit)and head right to the next room. Here, jump the gap and head to the next room, to avoid the Stalfos.
Repeat in this room what you did before: hit the button, jump the gap. Where you land push the block in front of the chest to the left and grab the small key inside. Push the blocks on the opposite side so you can exit that cordoned off area and head up through the locked door.
"In that room with the chest is a Bubble. If you hit them with the Boomerang, they’ll turn into fairies. This is a good chance to fill your bottles with some “extra lives” for the boss fight ahead."
Grab the Big Key from the big chest, and then backtrack down and right to the room where the Ball and Chain troopers were. Go down and through the Big Door, and then jump down the ledge. You’ll end up on a sky platform, whence a Darknut will appear. Dispatch him and a blue warp tile will appear (finally!) and a bridge. Head up into the darkened building.
Turn left and go up the stairs you find there. At the top dispatch the two Blue ChuChus (stun with boomerang, close for the kill), and then go left, up, and right through the door into the room with the Stalfos and fire trail. Run over and into the hole in the center of the room, whence you’ll drop down next to a chest. Open the chest for a small key. Drop down and run back up to where you fought the ChuChus.
Head down to the next room and clear the room of the Peahats using your Gust Jar, then leave and return to return the cracked floors. Smash the pots to reveal the split tiles and split so that you have a space in between each Link. Then, maneuver down to the crystal switches and activate them to open the door heading left. Go through the newly opened door to the next screen.
Here, equip the cape and jump over the rollers, and make your way up the stairs to claim the small key from the chest. Head right and jump down the ledge. GO right through the locked door. In the next screen, head down and jump into the Vortex, then fly down, right, and up to the ledge. Go up.
Dispatch the two Gibdos and head up the stairs. Now, kill the two Keese and go up around the corner and through the left door. In this seemingly empty room three Fire Wizrobes will appear. Quickly kill them, before they light you on fire and send you flying into one of the room’s holes to the floor below. When they are gone, a big chest with the Dungeon Map inside will appear. Head left now.
In the next room kill the Floormasters and then pull the lever all the way back. Go down through the newly opened door and in the next room avoid the fire trail and Stalfos and run up the stairs.
We’re on the fourth floor now, nearly done! Here, dispatch the two Stalfos and the two Gibdos and go up to the top left side of the room and push the four blocks right into the pit. Then, jump across and go up through the door. Continue up the path and grab the Heart Piece.
Now, you’ll drop down to where the Floormasters were, so backtrack up to the fourth floor (two rooms over). Go this time to the right side of the room and use an arrow on the floating mine when it’s next to the cracked blocks. You can now just across the gap. Go up and activate the crystal switch by throwing a bomb at it, and then go back across the gap and up to cross through that door you just opened and to get the 200 Rupees from the chest.
Now go back again across the gap and right and into the locked door on that raised platform. This leads upstairs to the fifth floor.
Now, on the next floor, dispatch the enemies and light the torches to make the red warp tile appear. Blow the cracked spot on the right wall. Go through to the open area and dispatch the enemies (Fire Wizrobes and Stalfos) and then go to the top left corner of the area, and lay a bomb on the wall before the upper-left-most cracked floor tile. You’ll blow open a hole to the left. Go through.
Head left, blow apart the cracked blocks and go up to the next room. Now, this next room is tricky. Stealthily navigate your way around the floating mines without blowing them up (and thus hitting the switch, and locking the door). If you set the trap, leave the room and come back to reset it. Once you make it to the upper left of the room, push the block in between the two floating mines up, and the one to the left of you now to the left. Head up.
Grab the small key from the chest and backtrack the room south of the floating mine room. Here step on the cracked floor tile and fall through to land in front of a locked door. Go through it.
In the next room, you’ll be in a big maze. I’ll spare you the play by play, but the trick to getting out is watching out for the Wizrobes and remembering that blocks next to the red floor tiles can be pushed. In the bottom right corner of the area, push the blocks right into the abyss and jump across the way to the red tiles. Go up and climb the vertical clouds. Now, you’ll be in front of the Big Door (well, another big door). Go through it.
From here, smash the skulls for hearts to stock up and go up and into the vortex at the top of the stairs. You will now face: Twin Gyorgs!
Well, let me assure you, this boss is MUCH easier then it looks. The trick is to recognize when to jump from one Gyorg to the other. As such there are phases.
(1) Jump to the Red Gyorg when three eyes will appear in a certain pattern. Match that pattern by splitting and then slash at the eyes till they turn to blackened holes. Cancel (hit R) the clones, and jump to the Blue Gyorg as it passes.
(2) On the Blue Gyorg, hit the eye as it opens in any of the corners and jump when the tail swings at you. After a few hits, it’s explode a bit. Jump to the Red Gyorg.
(3) This is the tricky part. As you repeat step 1, the Blue Gyorg will fly by and shoot energy at you, which will most likely dissipate your clones. It will take multiple tries and some fancy moves before you can knock out the eyes again. Jump to the Blue Gyorg.
(4) Repeat step 2, but as you do, little green Gyorgs will fly at you. Shouldn’t be a problem. Just to Red Gyorg when you can.
(5) Repeat step 1, but this time the Blue Gyorg fires 2 energy balls at you (though, with significant time in between). Shouldn’t be hard at all to knock out the eyes. Jump to the Blue Gyorg.
(6) Repeat step 2, but the Green Gyorgs are more random in their pattern, still no trouble.
(7) The final phase! The Red Gyorg is defeated as usual, but this time the green Gyorgs at you. Just slash them and they shouldn’t take out the clones.
When the eyes die, you will defeat the boss and fall to the Pyramid. Claim the Wind Element and your Heart Container and step into the green portal. Now, to reforge the Sacred Blade!
