Update Archive Graveyard
UPDATES from JULY 2005

[Dampe the Gravekeeper]"All entries that you may access below are the dead and buried updates that I tend to. Wait, what? Are you saying there's something odd with comparing an updates archive to a graveyard?? Well, what other work do you expect me, a hunchbacked old man that uses an elaborate series of grunts for communication, to find?!"

Home Again, Home Again, Jiggidy Jig
 × Posted July 30, 2005 by Jack

Hey all. Well, I'm back home froma well-deserved (and much enjoyed) vacation, and rearing to continue my work here at TDC. Since I just got home today I didn't have much to put up, so for now I have just the submissions I've gotten for the Caption Game. Also, I have a bit of news from the Twilight Princess front, of an interview with Eiji Aonuma done by Electronic Gaming Monthly. I've posted the scans from the interview [Page One, Page Two] at this site's fledgling image gallery (I really should finish that). In any case, in the interview Aonuma discusses topics such as Zelda's role in the next game, the Day/Night system, and other interesting issues. Be sure to check it out. As for me, I shall return next time with Ask Ezlo galore, other submissions, some fan fiction, a Compendium update, and much more. Until then!

The "Tide Over" Update
 × Posted July 23, 2005 by Jack

Hey all, well here's that amazingly large update I promised yesterday. Of course, it's this amazingly gigantic because it's meant to last a week (due to my impending week-long vacation). So, let's get down to business. First things first, the submissions are flowing as usually, keeping Ezlo busy over at Ask Ezlo and the Caption Game hopping. Also on the submissions front, the third chapter to Link, New Hyrule's Savior is up at the Library, and we have two new pieces of fan art from NinouSs, a new artist, at the Museum. The links section has a new link as well, to CSI: Hyrule, a fan fiction site based around a series of CSI-Zelda crossover stories. It's really good, so check it out.

Some new content include the Ask Ezlo FAQ, which has a bunch of questions that poor Ezlo gets asked repeatedly. Hopefully this will answer some of those inquiries before they actually need to be inquired. Moreover, the Bestiary has two new entries, one for Iron Knuckle, and one for Dark Nut. At the Compendium, I've expanded the Who Woulda Thunk It? section to start holding articles exploring some of the more inane sides of Hyrule. Therefore, it is debuted with two new articles, one titled "The Terrible Truth About Tingle" and the other "Behind the Names of the Zelda Series" which will be a regularly updated article. Be sure to read both, since they're both pretty interesting.

Lastly, I've dropped a few affiliates that were inactive for more than two months. If you were one of those sites, please email me and let me know if you intend to bring your site back/continue working on it and we can work something out. And speaking of affiliates, Zelda Headquarters has scans of the September issue of Nintendo Power up, which includes an awesome interview with Koji Kondo (the main Zelda composer), definitely a must read.

As for me, I shall return on Sunday the 30th. Until then everyone!

Purely Compendium Update
 × Posted July 21, 2005 by Jack

Hey all, here's that "good stuff" I promised two updates back. Considering, that I spent some time writing these, and as such, didn't have the time to compile the Captions/Ezlo questions for today's update, the regular posting of submissions will return next update. As for today, the Bestiary is finally "completed" with its first phase, with the addition of the rest of the first wave entries I planned for it. Now, I can go along with my plan of periodically adding a new creature to the section (I'd like to do one per update, and see how far that gets me).

Lastly, there is a new Mystery at the Mysteries and Theories section, "Is the Link of Ocarina of Time related to the Link of The Wind Waker?" That is probably my best researched mystery to date, so be sure to check it out, and please send in your own theories on the matter so I can post them there. I'll be back next time with submissions, some fan fiction, and more. Until then!

(P.S.) It bears mentioning that I will be on vacation from July 23 to July 30 (this Saturday to next Saturday), so there will no updates to speak of in that period. As such, tomorrow's update will be really good.

Twilight Princess Release Date Revealed?
 × Posted July 19, 2005 by Jack

According to Amazon.com's Twilight Princess page,

"Availability: This item will be released on November 14, 2005."
Is this what we've been waiting for? An official release date for this highly anticipated game? One hopes so!

Hrm, Not as Fantastic as Expected
 × Posted July 18, 2005 by Jack

Hey folks, well today's update isn't as wide-ranging and earth shattering as I originally hoped (I'm a little behind schedule), so apologies all around for that. Anyways, as to the update, we have about twelve new captions at the Caption Game, and a truck load of new questions at Ask Ezlo. Also, we have a new link, to Hug A Redead, a pretty unique new forum site. Go visit and help them grow! Lastly, the next chapter to Randy Austin's new fan fic, Link, New Hyrule's Savior, is up at the Library. Check that out as well. As for me, I shall return next time with some great stuff (hopefully, ha ha... erm) and submissions. Until then!

Quick Submissions Update
 × Posted July 16, 2005 by Jack

Hey all, just a quick submissions update to tide you over until I bring out the big guns in the next update. As such, the Caption Game and Ask Ezlo are both updated with tons of new submissions. Also, a new edition of the Mailbag is available. I'll be back next time with some great stuff, so stay tuned. Until then!

Compendium Stuff and Submissions
 × Posted July 14, 2005 by Jack

Hey all, and the update truck keeps on rolling with tons of great new content. Let's start with the submissions—both the Caption Game and Ask Ezlo have a bunch of new submissions. Also, there is a new fan fiction story, titled "Link, New Hyrule's Savior" by Randy Austin, in the Library. In the "Who Are the Rito?" mystery, we have a new theory as well. Moreover, speaking of the Compendium, the next chapter of History of the Swords is up, this one dealing with the story of the Four Sword. And, as part of the media section's expansion, a new MP3s/Music page, with one new MP3 available.

Lasty, but certainly not least, we have a new affiliate, Independent Zelda, which is one of my favorite sites out there because of the amazing Wind Waker comic series that Lousia (the webmistress) is currently working on. If you've never been, I highly recommend you pay them a visit. Now as for me, I'll be back next time with submissions, hopefully the next (and last) chapter of History of the Swords, and whatever else I can get my grubby mitts on. Until then!

Another Huge Update
 × Posted July 12, 2005 by Jack

Hey all, another huge update today. We start with the Caption Game which is now open for business with its next edition. The old edition has been duly archived. Ezlo is, as always, fielding questions in excess over at Ask Ezlo. Also in the submissions department we have two new pieces of Fan Fiction, an Ocarina of Time Novelization by Alexander Knepper, and I Never Meant... by Megan O'Shea, who is a returning author to this site and one of the best Zelda fan fiction writers out there. Both works are excellent and worth a read!

Next, the OoT oddities section has been updated with an update (how ironic) to a preexisting oddity. The "Who Are the Rito?" mystery has been updated with three new theories. Lastly, but certainly not least for submissions, we have a new link to Twisted Futurity, an excellent free-graphics and layouts website serving the Zelda community. The site is beautiful, and if you need free graphics or want to check out a great site you should drop by.

Moving on to housekeeping issues, the Under Development page has been updated a tad with some new items and a new system of prioritizing. I've also played around a bit with the updates format, but by now you've noticed that. In any case, I'll be back next time with submissions, that History of the Swords chapter, and more. Until then!

Huge Honkin' Update!
 × Posted July 11, 2005 by Jack

I've amazed myself with how big this update is, and there's still so much to do! Firstly, the regulars: the Caption Game and Ask Ezlo are both overflowing with submissions. Next there is a new oddity at the long-slumbering OoT Oddities page. If I've suddenly piqued your interest in Zelda oddities, then don't forget that we also have sections for Link's Awakening, A Link to the Past, and I'm hoping to start one for Minish Cap. So, if you have oddities, send them my way. Lastly, but certainly not least, (and I admit this is a bit unexpected) I've put up the Hyrule Symphony mp3s for download. They are amazing, so do check them out! Anyways, I'll be back tomorrow with the next Caption Game, and then after that with the next History of the Swords chapter, as well as more submissions, some Fan Works, and whatever else I have to post. Until then!

Total Compendium Update
 × Posted July 9, 2005 by Jack

Hey all. Well, I've been intending to ship this out for a week now, so rather than wait until the next update, I figure I'd let it loose today instead. Of course, I'm talking about the newest Compendium feature, History of the Swords, where I examine the detailed stories of the Master Sword(s), Four Sword, and other swords that have played a role in the Zelda series. I really like how the series is turning out, and thus heartily recommend you read the articles out so far. I'll be back next time with your regularly scheduled update (with submissions galore) and hopefully another article in that series. Until then!

Smaller Update Than I Had Planned
 × Posted July 7, 2005 by Jack

Hey all, well I had hoped to have much more ready for today, but I'm taking on too many tasks at once. I need to focus a little, methinks. In any case, today we have the following: new Caption Game submissions, new Questions at Ask Ezlo, and new Letters at the Mailbag. Also, we have a new affiliate, Zeldadomain.co.uk, which is a very nice looking site that's doing a lot of great work at previewing Twilight Princess. Be sure to pay them a visit.

I had originally to start the History of the Swords article today, but I've only finished Part 1, which is kind of small, and more of an introduction, so I'm going to wait for Part 2 before I debut the whole thing. Moreover, I've finally started getting the Image Gallery up and running (you can see it here). Obviously I have lots to do there! As a last item for today, which you can expect next update, I'm going to organize the Under Development page so that I can show an order in which I intend to tackle each item on the list.

As a postscript, while this isn't Zelda-related, allow me to say my condolences to the good people of London whom suffered a terrorist attack this morning. My thoughts are with the families who have suffered pain and loss today.

Happy Second of July... Oh, wait...
 × Posted July 2, 2005 by Jack

Hey all, welcome to the month of July, which I hope will be decidely more update-packed than last month was. To start, we have the usual suspects: Ezlo working hard for the money at Ask Ezlo, and the captions keep on coming at the Caption Game. Also, there is a new (and very much well-reasoned) theory at the "Who Are the Rito?" mystery. There's a new link in the Links section to Zelda Genesis, a snazzy looking new site that just moved to a new location. Be sure to pay them a visit. Moreover, the Under Development page has been updated minorly with a few new items and the striking off of what I've done thus far. Last, but not least, there is a new article in the Compendium, written by myself, concerning the Stealing Trick of Link's Awakening. It gets pretty irreverent, but I think it'll make for a fun read, so don't forget to give that one a peek. As for me, I'll be back next time with the normal submissions, as well as a Mailbag edition, another article from my to-do list, and more. Until then!
